Good Evening,

Firstly i would like to say hello as i have today picked up my Fiat panda 1.2 Dynamic. I have a couple of questions, Firstly the key i have has no central locking controls, what i was wondering was if i could buy the key with central locking controls and programme it to the car? Secondly the car has done 60,000 miles and i have no proof of the cam belt being changed, has anybody had the cam belt changed at a fiat dealer and how much was the cam belt change? I am sorry if these questions have been asked before!

Thankyou

Hello :)

I believe that as your Panda is a Dynamic model, and judging by the mileage a fairly early example, it won't have the receiver in the car to pick up remote signals for the central locking. It should have central locking which is not remote controlled though?

I think the only way of getting remote locking would be to fit a complete aftermarket setup, which is probably not worth the cost or effort to be honest.

Not sure about cambelt changes on Pandas i'm afraid, but i'm sure there's plenty of friendly faces on here who will soon let you know. Good luck with the Panda (y)

Hi & Welcome,

My Dynamic (2005 model) came with a remote locking key, so I would have thought that yours has the gubbins.

I do gather that getting a key programmed will not be cheap, you have been warned

I have no clue on the cost of replacing the fan belt, but I'm up for getting mine changed in 2010

At least the 1.2 is a non interference engine(y)

There's a cambelt? Just got up and I'm not very well this morning but as far as I recall, it's an overhead valve engine, not overhead cam. That'll be why it's not been changed ;) I think. Have to go lie down now. One other thing, you said you "picked up" the car which seems to suggest there's a garage involved. Why not ask them for the missing key?

:eek:Wibble, my local dealer wants @ £255 for a cambelt change

I guess I had better be ready for the

from the dealer

Anyone seen a fast running wallet ?

for those of you close to aylesbury, bucks:

£60 is very good, £55 to FF members even better, most garages like the one i use in hounslow will do for not much more as well, if you must go to a main dealer, well like has been mentioned, get your wallet out(y)

i always thought overhead valve inferred a pushrod engine, which the fire in the pandas isn't, it's an overhead cam

Tell them to F-off Trev. £60 on the Classic Panda's with FIRE engines, and no more than £100 on sisters mk3 (1.1, although the 1.2 is the same block).

Go independant (y)

Hi & Welcome,

My Dynamic (2005 model) came with a remote locking key, so I would have thought that yours has the gubbins.

Ive learnt something new - i thought only the Eleganza & 100HP had remote locking, unless it was something which came in on Dynamics a year or so after launch?

I remember when I was looking at buying a Panda I went to see a 54 plate Dynamic 1.2 at the local dealer and it wasn't fitted with the remote locking which came as standard on later models, so if your one is an early model it may not have it.

Thankyou for all your replies! I will look at independent garages for cam belt (If it's got one). I will do further investigation into RCL key, as my panda is a 2006 dynamic model. The only keys i have is a black and blue non RCL key?

It should have done, but cheaper to replace a lost remote key with a none remote key ;)

PandaFox23, sounds like a key has been lost for your car and replaced, or the remote key packed up, and the replacement has been none remote. (n)

2006 Dynamic should defo come with two keys - one non-RCL old-fashioned looking key - and one RCL key. They have some explaining to do!

As said, a new key has to be programmed at a main dealer and can cost in the hundreds.
