Has anyone else had this problem? I jumped in the 100hp the other morning after not using it for a couple of days. It was a very cold morning, around -2 and when I pressed the clutch pedal, it seemed to stick as I released it. It was only a slight sticking, but enough to notice. When I drove the car, it made changing gear a bit strange as I had to pre-empt the sticking. After a few miles (10ish) of driving and using the clutch, the problem seemed to go away.
Is this a sign of something about to go wrong, or is it likely (as I suspect) to be caused by the extreme cold only and when the engine got nice and warm it fixed itself? Any ideas?

thanks

Simon

I've found the clutch pedal a little slow to come up on my '09 Active when it's been cold. Presumably this is this is because the fluid is a bit thicker in the cold, but I don't recall noticing this on any other car I've had with a hydraulic clutch.
Again, once things have warmed up it's back to normal.

Hi, Mine does it also when cold, think it must be that Mediteranian oil, very slow when cold, likes the warmer weather.

Just another 'feature' of the car !!!

Pedals whether accelerator or less likely clutch, sticking behind mats have always been a big safety issue which is only being publicised lately ...Mind you the Cinquecento Sporting had an 'interesting ' problem where the throttle would jam fully open and you had to 'pull' the accelerator pedal 'back out' with your toes!Of course it may not be the mat here ,just saying...
Another amusing mat related issue is that it can stop the accelerator going all the way down which of course will affect performance

It might just be the cold but I have just had pretty much the same problem you've described, or it certainly sounds like it, with my 100HP as posted elsewhere on here. After a couple of days the problem kept getting worse but not consistantly, and took it into the local dealer and it turned eventually into a new clutch master cylinder replaced under warranty. I'd be getting it checked if it persists if I were you.

We have a similar problem on our Sporting, the pedal is always slow to return. Had it looked at, at about 17000miles, the dealer replaced the master cylinder. There was no change and they were talking about charging to change the clutch as it was not covered by the warranty so we left it.

Still works fine and isnt really noticeable unless you make a fast gear change at 45000miles now.

It's done it again today, but it's not the mat, so it looks like it could be a master cylinder issue. I'll keep an eye on it as the car's out of warranty now, so it can be fixed when it gets really annoying.
Thanks guys,

Simon

Its just because its cold I wouldn't worry to much about it... If you really feel that something is wrong get it checked out but seriously wouldn't you be a little slow if you had been sitting in close to zero daylight and minus conditions over night?

My advice for the winter is leave the engine idling for 2 - 3 mins before your journey and apply some revs around 1600 - 2000rpm to help some warmth get into the engine, I bet your car would thank you for it rather than bozzing off on a freezing engine!

Cheers
