Just bought a Panda semi-auto as a second car for the cute looks and as a cheap run around in addition to my Seat Leon TDI FR.
i tried getting insurance quotes but was getting scary quotes all over the place such as much as £1750 and hardly got anything close to £900.
Many insurance guides say the Panda is a group 2-3.
To my suprise today my insurance told me that the panda was a group 14.
Thats a bit absurd as my Seat Leon Cupra TDI FR is group 13.
I choosed the Panda because i thought it was cheap to insure.
can anyone help??

A Panda 1.2 Dynamic should be group 2E (the E means it should be a group three but has been reduced because of better security I believe...), an Eleganza can't be higher than a 3...sounds like they are looking up the wrong car on the database

what insurance company do you use for you Pandas?

Elephant of course :)

37yr old male, 9+ years NCB, no points, 6000 miles per year, about £270 fully comp...biggest factor in cost will be your postcode though.

FIAT's own insurance was reasonably competitive when I was looking at quotes but I had 4 months to run on my existing policy so stuck with Elephant.

suprisingly it was elephant that made the same statement that the Panda eleganza was group 14.
by the way my no claims is on another car and would remain that way.

just made a call to Fiat forum insurance which is recomended by this forum and they have quoted me £575 fully comp and £475 third party fire and theft.
Thats a bit realistic.

Used to use Tesco, now with Admiral, will probably switch again come renewal as I don't rate Admiral from experience of the past year.

My Eleganza 04 manual..............second car, been around the clock a few times...................me,NOT the Panda!!! limited milage. £161.per annum.:)

Got the quote through GoCompare, and sorted it with The Co-op..........ripper!!!

Best prices I had for our MJ (though I am 50's with full NCD) was £120 with Swiftcover.com and £141 with Liverpool Victoria (LV.com) for fully comp, 15K a year miles, me and wife, plus business use for me.

I went with LV because their policy included TP cover to drive other vehicles, Swiftcover for some reason couln't verify that until after the policy was paid for

Just to clear up a point -

When I was looking up for insurring purposes what groups etc cars were (which is one of the reasons I picked the 1.1 Active Eco at group 1...) I spotted the 1'E' bit.. and wondered that the E was for...

Having looked it up on relevant sites it states,
the Number "1" is the group rating (1 being lowest) and the "E" is the security rating "E" being the best for that class of car (ie a B rating on a different class could actually have more and better security than an E on another class)...

So for insurance purposes the lowest you can get is 1E (like what mine is...lol) meaning going on one of those price comparison sites I got a range from 400 down to £190 for 2 of us fully comp etc...

one thing you should consider is they are all out to make profit and may be open to bartering... Our old car (rover 420) was £430 a year to insure and when I rang up to swap to the new car they calculated it to be... £30 pound a year less than the old car (so 400 for a group 1 car compared to the 12 or something the other was)... Having laughed and said they were obviously joking as I can get it myself for 190 they did another little look and suddenly found they could do it for £260 !!!...

The insurance company that said it was a group 14 might have a typo on their system. The letter "E" is just below the number "4" and could be a typo.
