I've had my panda for about 5 weeks now and over the last couple of days it has developed a rattle which sounds to be coming from the dash directly in front of drivers seat. It doesn't sound like anything major just a piece of small plastic bouncing around or something.

Any ideas what this could be or if it's worth seeing if dealer can fix it?

Put slight pressure on the top of the instrument binnacle and see if that stops the rattle temporarily? Mine had a rattle which got worse when it was cold, dealers sorted it with a tiny bit of cloth packing around the edge of the instrument screen (can't be seen).

I got the same thing, I test drove mine just before signing on the dotted line and it was creaking then, the dealer said that they fixed it but it returned, im not really been bothered by it as it is just plastic rubbing against plastic.

I tried applying pressure onto the top of the instrument panel and it didn't stop it. Sounds like it is coming from the steering wheel it self the sound is like something is bouncing around and it only really happens when i go over bumps..

Mine sounds more like polystyrene rubbing together, did the dealer have to take the dash apart to wedge cloth in the gap that squeaks?

Had exactly the same problem too - seems to be coming behind / at the binnacle. Only notice it on particularly bumpy roads.

My Panda has three rattles from around the dash area: one, like many others reported here, only happens when its cold in the car, and goes away once the heater kicks in. It seems to relate to the join in the plastic of the centre console, somewhere above my left foot; another I had thought was the instrument panel but I realised yesterday while driving home that it actually comes from inside the indicator/lighting stalk -- applying the slightest pressure to the end of the control stops the rattle. The little button on the end of the wiper stalk for controlling the trip computer has the same problem. The last only seems to happen with a certain set-up of the ventilation controls, temperature, and road speed, when I can then hear what sounds like one of the 'flaps' that directs the air somewhere in the dash area just knocking against something.

But none of these can compare to the total rattle-fest that is my Multipla !!

same here, only on a particular type of road surface - but ours isn't a rattle it sounds like dry leaves being rustled - at first I thought it was a leaf in the ducting somewhere but a light touch of the binnacle stops.

I've given up on curing my rattles and now see them as features and they no longer bother me (much).....

Oh and I turn up the stereo as it is rather good for a little car

mine dose it at speeds above 50mph. It goes away when I squeeze the top of the dash above the steering wheel. But its a bit hard to squeeze it while driving :)

Do you think VW and BMW drivers have as much to listen too whilst driving as us Fiat drivers?

There can't be much on their forums -

POST - "YEAH SO I LIKE DROVE MY CAR TODAY AND IT WAS FINE. IT DIDN'T RATTLE AND NOTHING BROKE"

REPLY - "YEAH THE EXACT SAME NOTHING HAPPENED TO MY CAR LAST WEEK. OH AND I'M A PRAT WITH A SMALL WILLY"

I've never noticed a rattle form my dash, mind you it's got to be bad to be heard :D

It's up against the keys bashing on the steering surround, the scrapers in the door pocket and the radio turned up :D :D

More talk about listening to the burble of a straight six silky smooth engine I should think. Well at least that was my experience as a BMW driver.

So much jealousy of BMW drivers on here. I'd have one in a blink if I could afford one. Utterly brilliant cars.

I bought a FIAT because I couldn't get anywhere near affording a new BMW. Oh well, i'll get there one day.

I have also noticed that I have a noise coming from the little button on the end of the wiper stalk.

Has anyone managed to fix this issue? Is there some kind of lubricant that can be put just on the inside of the stalk to stop the rattle ?

Cheers, James

How on earth do you manage to hear the noise from the little button on the end of the wiper stalk? As Red Riding Hood said, 'What big ears you've got!'

My little puddle-jumper has had the sound-deadening treatment because I can't stand the road roar, and I still couldn't hear such a noise.
Great little car, but noisy? Oh yes!

Mine is the same, but on a nice smooth road I can really here the button on wiper stalk rattle!

Once you know it's there is becomes annoying.... maybe a spot of grease might do the job.

I have a rattle from the centre of my dash, but I'm pretty sure its where the pivot for the air flow control has broken as it only blows out the front now, regardless of pressing the buttons.

Presume that's a dash out job to fix?
