Panda recall

Hello all,

I am not sure if it has been posted before but I had a search and couldn't find anything.

I have been informed by my dealer that there is a recall on a certain number of Panda's (07 plate ones) in relation to the ABS system. Apparently some parts of the system need replacing under this recall. The dealer didn't say what parts.

They have told me that my car is under this recall, although I have never received any mail from Fiat telling me so.

Might be worth taking your cars to a dealer just to get it double checked...

Re: Panda recall

Hmm I have an '07'. Just received a letter from the Sales Manager at the dealers saying the Dealer Principal has asked him to contact me regarding some 'good news' about my existing vehicle. It also states it is not a circular!!

Not sure a recall would be classed as 'good news' though :p

Re: Panda recall

No thats a old one (you honestly expect vosa to be up to date!) the recall is as forevertom stated ABS related, few parts & bit of tweaking thats all;)

There is a relatively small batch of cars affected & owners will be contacted soon.
Thanks for this. The dealer seemed to think it wasn't too much of a big deal but thought I would let everyone know due to it affecting warranty if not getting the work done.

Re: Panda recall

The dealer told me that if I didn't get the recall done then warranty work couldn't be carried out on the car as Fiat would see it as me not looking after the car properly. Don't know if it is true or not but took their word for it.

Re: Panda recall

probably better in this circumstance as most of the time there is a clear problem (usually safety issue thats need rectifying) and how much will it cost them overall to put their mistakes right...it only costs you some time really most of the time....whats that worth in safety terms...

Re: Panda recall

My 2006 Panda is going in for a recall next week. May be an old one tho as I was having work carried last week when they told me (having issues with the steering and a squeeking from brakes). Think it was something to do with the brake controller but not sure as I wasnt speaking to them myself. Have been told the car is safe to drive tho. Will be on the phone to them tomorrow anyways as they still havent fixed the problem with the steeing :bang:

Re: Panda recall

My Panda too has been recalled for ABS... It's a 2005 Multijet. Will be going in on Friday if the parts are in...

WeeSmurf, yours is a Mervyn Stewart car as well isnt it? I wonder if they are bringing them all in then? Mines going in on Monday for "a couple of days" as they are going to get to the bottom of the steering issues as well. Aparently parts are coming from Italy!

Yes mines from Mervyn Stewarts. It was in for new brake discs and pads yesterday, when they told me there was a recall. They wanted to keep him, but with two wee ones (and being a lady what lunches :p), I couldn't do without him as all their courtesy cars were out. I only book a courtesy car when the car would be going in for a while. I normally just opt to get a lift into work or town.

And parts often come from Italy. Dealerships don't tend to keep a big stock of parts as they'd end up binning them as models change... Less expense from wastage that way.

I suppose that makes sense. I have a courtesy car booked this time round as it worked out awkward last time having to get lifts to work (I work in Holywood) and back as I tend not to end on time (the joys of working in retail). Might be going to Dublin next week tho so may or may not need a ccar as work will sort out transport. Does anyone have any more info on what the recall involves? Im nosey that way lol

Re: Panda recall

Been there, done that with the retail thing.

And with the wonderful public transport system in Belfast, a 10 minute journey by car from Dundonald to Holywood will take at least an hour by bus...

Ikea?
