1 year old Panda Cross. Air recirculation control jams and needs to be fiddled with to select the right option. I'm sure the mechanism just needs a bit of grease on it, so does anyone know how to get at the mechanism without wrecking the plastic dashboard fittings.
OK, I know the car's under warranty but the drive to the dealer and the wait is a faff. In addition, dealers can be heavy handed with plastic dashes, covers, etc and break them whereas I have the time and patience to avoid this.

You're probably right about it being the dash control that's acting up but its worth checking the other end first just in case!!
There's nothing worse than removing half the dash and then finding that something is jamming the other end of the mechanism, hopefully its easier to get at ? maybe behind the glovebox ?

I've just spent a couple of hours with my head in the driver's footwell. I found the flap that directs the air but everything is so tight and inaccesible that I gave up. The mechanism seems to be cable operated and I bet some oil down the cable would cure the problem but just can't get access.
Will have to get dealer to fix under warranty.

All the plastic around the gearlever etc... comes off fairly easily which might help with access.
Chances are you may have to lift the whole dash a bit though as the heater is generally the first thing in and the interior built around it.

Take it in and get a 500 to razz around in for a day.
