so was on the way to Thames FIAT, for the ABS recall, pootling round the M25, flowing with the traffic, idly flicking through the trip computer when something caught my eye:

yes i had filled her up the night before, but i don't consider myself to have an especially light right foot. as to wether i could actually get close to that figure on a proper long distance run would be intresting to find out.......

Had a similar experience on a recent run down to Gt Yarmouth Jai.

Well.... coming back actually. According to to computer I was 30 miles short of making it home on what I had in the tank after the trip down and running about for a few days. I set off wanting to prove the mo fo wrong!

I did fill up but after driving really steady and easy at the legal limits, smooth and considerate I decided to fill up.

When I did the computer said I had a 576 mile range to empty!

Never seen that before on the GP... needless to say, normal driving has returned it to the normal 410 mile range to a full tank... :p

is the trip computer on all the new pandas ?
(just wondering as it has Eco in the title of the basic one I'm getting)

Blimey thats wicked ..624 to the gal ..now you can give the panda some foot power and Mrs. Shoowee wont know your burning her petrol up..;)..on a more serious note tho ..i have noticed the new panda is far more economical on jungle juice than the old yella one..and with only 300 miles on the clock I am pleasantly surprised to say the least..:slayer:

Just a thought... with the new Panda doing your average about town driving, work and back (about 10mile round trip), trip to shops (similar) and bits and bobs... what sort of costs would I be looking at ?... currently we put about £20 a week in (2.0L Diesel Rover) ... how long should we expect £20 to last in a panda 1.1 active eco ?

My 1.1 Eco does between 51 and 54 mpg over a tankfull.
That's 25 miles each way hilly 'A' road with a little bit of town along the way.

Ok, cheers Jai,

From J8-J11 and J8-J7 are the spots I find good for economy - no comment on J7-J8 :bang: :bang:

Trev

M25. 117 miles of bliss:).
Not sure what time you travel Trev, but 8-11 is never moving when i use it, unless i can leave home at 04.30 :). Errr 7-8....No comment :D.

For the unaware, J7-J8 is where 3 lanes of HGVs race at 20 mph up Reigate Hill :bang: :bang:

A clear run with momentum and you can sail up it without much impact on your MPG, however you usually end up getting slowed by a crane and watching your MPG doing a crash dive

On my 100hp i got to 280 miles before the dashboard told me to fill up. At this point it doesn't tell you how many more miles are in the tank and i got it to 325 before i filled up. Cant remember the exact mpg but it must have been about 48. Pretty impressed. My average is about 45 mpg.
