General Buying a 100hp Today!

moving on from Mrs P's undoubted skills in the car carpet negotiating department, I went and had another rummage round a new 100hp at my local very pricey dealer (is not even asking you if you want anything part of the Fiat sales strategy?). Our dynamic has the jack and tools in a nice plastic tray that sits inside the space saver wheel, the 100hp seems to have them in a bag stuck to the boot floor with a bit of velcro, is that how it is?
Dealer has a 2nd hand one outside with a spare wheel well that looks just like the one repaired on the Panda that had the disagreement with the Passat, as the new ones look sort of painted and this looks sort of black I think it might be the sign of a rear end shunt. What with the bits of trim hanging off, dings and scratches, do they expect to sell a car that looks like that? £7689 for a 07 and 7000 miles. Hardly any depreciation at all there.

Was also wondering, do you all always fill them up with the super pricey petrol, do they need this or will they go quite happily on the normal brew?

Same with our 2....Eleganza has tray inside spare wheel...100hp has the bag (which makes a handy 'boot divider') :D

No point....Normal unleaded is fine

Get him down to £7k and I reckon it's quite a good deal. Local FIAT dealer near me has a red one with 4,000 miles up for £7995.
Back in Feb I brought a brand new one (i.e an 09 plate, I ordered in Feb) for £8k exactly from a FIAT main dealer, after some haggling. Mind you, prices were lower then.

The price has been reduced to 7k now as I assume he couldn't shift it! Probably like you guys say - you can get a new one for 7.5k!

Sadly my other car has been written off (n) www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14646

Will probably go down tomorrow and take a look at this....

It's weird, isn't it? Just compared Mrs babbo umbro's MJ with my 100HP - jack and so on are identical; spare is up the other way in the well in the 100HP - wondered why but I think it's so that the same fixing screw, which would be too long with the wheel face down and no tool kit, can be used with the wheel face up. I'll be checking with my local scrapyard and getting the fitted kit for the 100HP - much neater.

Of course an auto is great in traffic but don't gloss over the many benefits of an manual :) For me the choice between auto and manual is very much from car to car. I would never have an auto on a small car like my 500 or on a Panda but I loved the auto box on my 504 and I felt it really suited the character of the car.

Nasty.

The other insurance company paying up or he turn out to be uninsured

Thankfully insurance will be paying out.

I drove the 100hp today. I liked it - it's so damn cheeky! I couldn't get the seat position completely comfortable otherwise i would have probably bought it. Is there a link to a manual somewhere? Will check a mate's mini to see how it compares and make a decision.

Mini eh? Compared the Mini price list anytime recently? If you're at all thinking of a Mini, take a testdrive in a 500 or better yet a 500 Abarth :)

The mini is the standard setter but in a very much higher price range. 14K or thereabouts to buy a poverty spec model. That will be 16K before you've got a reasonable spec. I love them, great cars to drive and way more sophisticated than the panda particularly so in the chassis, but then you'd expect that really given the price difference.

Exactly. The Mini's great, but in the value for money stakes the Panda kicks it in the nuts and stamps on its face.

Although I notice the prices on Supersaver have been 'facelifted' now.

I'm paying 8245 for a new 100hp - on the road with 6 months tax. 750 of that is for the red paint and a skydome. Before I finally signed on the dotted line I went through a What Car New Car Guide cover to cover. There is nothing out there with similar performance and level of kit for anything like the same money. The 100hp isn't the fastest car on the road by a long chalk but there aren't that many cars that do 0-60 in under 10 seconds and can you find one that sells new for this money even before you start adding on the extras like climate control. The basic mini What Car target price is 12335, expect one could do better, doesn't even come with alloys. It may well have a better chassis and better trim but the price differential is huge. And how many 100hp's do you ever see on the road, very rare, Mini's are everywhere, almost as unexclusive as 500's.

Looks like I bought just in time, my base price was 7495, 700 is a lot extra for what I understand is a seat fabric change on the 100hp, no one has been able to tell me if it is any more that that on the 100hp. Expect quite a chunk of the increase is really exchange rate.
When I get the car I'll post about how I found Fiat Supasaver as no one seems to have commented for ages. Deposit taken by and paperwork from the Fiat Dealer in Chippenham - their reputation rests on how they fix the number plate.

looks like I'm monopolising this post - really must go and cut the grass. Right at the start of the year I bought my fiance a 1.2 Dynamic Eco - it cost 5300 - that was the model without air con. She only drives a few miles and it's only something else to go wrong. I see the same model (but they all come with air con now) is 6795. OK it has roof bars and a painted grill but that's a heck of a rise in 9 months.

They did mine properly

Getting all the mileage I can from my bent Panda pic...

Definitely and if you're after more shove you could buy an Abarth for cheaper than a poverty spec Mini :)

LOL :D It's funny on the 500 forum all the 500 zealots run around saying that 500 ownership is like being part of an exclusive club :p I mean wtf? You pays your money and you gets your car and they're hardly a rare car....... nothing like making stuff up to justify your purchase though I guess :)
