Technical Gearbox Failure on 1.2 Dualogic.

I don't know if this has been covered before or not.

But here is the scope:-

Every now and then particularly when the car has been left sitting for a while when opening the door there won't be that buzzing noise of the gearbox pump activating. When the car starts and you engage any gear, it will state on the dash "Gear Not Available" and then "Gearbox Failure"

Twice while the car is in motion it will again for no reason show "Gearbox Failure" but it will remain in gear and you can continue driving it, once straight away after it showed the message, I tried pulling to the side, the gearbox then functioned like normal. Another time, I pulled over to the side, stopped the car and it went into Neutral and continued displayed Gearbox Failure.

Sometimes, after 2-3 minutes I try it.......... it will work again. Other times after a day it will work again.

Does anyone know what is on the way out?

Get the dealer to run a diagnosis?

Check and wd40 every connector you can find. I have had a random electrical problem and fixed it by checking the connectors as have alot of multijets on the engine connectors.

sounds like a problem with the hydraulic actuator on top of the box to me

Both the dualogic Pandas I've had would run the gearbox pump when you opened the driver's door. As to the gearbox fail message I've had that too on the first one. After a while I twigged that it happened when you operated the screenwashers!! Don't ask me why the screenwashers but a poor earth was the diagnosis.

Now gone back to a manual only because Fiat will only do the autobox on the Elegenze model. Shame as the best auto box I've used in years.

I brought it in today, had it examined by computer. Showed pump failure.

Told em check all the connectors, all were fine, the pump itself is sticky and the elements within the motor is no longer healthy.

Getting the pump replaced.

Just out of interest, how much will it cost to fix? I bet it wont be cheap. As one dealer told me, he has seen grown men cry when they are faced with the cost of fixing one of these gearboxes.

£700 on an Idea 1,4 new actuator!

first of all hello to everyone,

I got a little question to you. I would appreciate it if you can help me solve my problem out. because I really start to hate this car.

here is the thing. I owe a 2005 1.2 panda duologic and I have the massage on the screen 'gearbox fail'. this following problem occured. The engine doesn't work under load. It can start when the gear is 'N'. but when I take it to the '1' gear. If I don't give full gas, the engine stops immediately. even if I give gas, it stops too. the same problem is there by slowing down too. The gear comes from '3' to '2' to '1' and when the car almost stops, the engine stops again.

I am really begging you. I would be very happy if you give me any suggestion to solve it. It seems electronical failure. thank you.
