My head unit (standard mp3 blaupunkt one) has eaten a CD - if I press the CD button I just get "CD Error" and then no function from the CD player; and I can't eject the disc...

Anyone any idea how to get it out? I've tried seeing if turning the car off will 'reset' the unit but it doesn't.

I have had this problem too, I simply used the radio for a while and, when it wasn't looking pressed cd ,then eject, took it by surprise and it ejected the cd(y), tend to use the ipod now via a Macally fm cup which works brilliantly via the radio. John B

same things happened to the family panda... a couple of times.. use brute force and ignorance.. i.e. hit the the top of the player whilst pressing the eject button...

:ROFLMAO:That's the process I use as well....

On a more serious note, I've noticed ours does that regularly when the sun's shining and the top of the cd player/dashboard is warm.

hrm, warm... being driven 1000km and going from cold Ireland (2c) through bloody cold England (-1c) to the Eurotunnel (20c inside!) just before it stuck might have had an expansion effect. Will give it a bash.

I ended up getting my HU replaced under warranty, it regularly had this eject problem and got fussier and fussier about reading discs. The dealer swapped it without hassle, had to wait about a week for them to order one in.

:yeahthat: :ROFLMAO:

Just love the fact that there is still that good old fashioned Fiat build quality  :D :p

nothing to due with fiat build quality...the head unit fitted to the 100 hp is frankly cheap, built to a price.
i had the same problem with cd,s, after the unit got to a certain temperature it would freeze and cd,s would not eject...
mentioned it to local glass palace when it went in for 1st service, well sir it,s been in workshop playing cd,s all morning, nothing wrong with it...
bottom line, it,s in a box in spare room, replaced with a Kenwood head unit with a usb port, 8gb flash drive, jobs a good un...
i can live with out the blue tooth, billy no mates, 1 call in a year and that was a wrong number...

Gave it a whack and its working again. Wonderful Blaunpunkt engineering standards!
