I am considering changing my Fabia vRS. Its a fun car to drive which is all i really care about. After reading the reviews of the Panda 100HP is also sounds like a lot of fun (in a different way). With it only being just over £7k new and the lure of a 3 year warranty, I am very tempted to do the swap. Has anyone here had the experience of driving them both?

I had one of those a few cars ago, post (forgotten the year) when they revised the gear ratios and dropped them a bit. Was proberly the best all round car I've had so far, fast, comfy, good range, the tail would come out if you asked it to. Got rid of it though, not enough of a go kart, and diesel just doesn't sound right. If you think a VRS is fun, try a 100HP, its not a better car, but it is a better 'toy'.

If that makes sense!?!

Had a 1.4TDI Fabia for 4 yrs and 120,000 miles before this 1.3D Panda. The Skoda was an immeasurably better vehicle in all areas other than engine refinement.

JON

Skoda is an altogether better built and quality product - the vRS engine isn't the most refined but its bulet proof and will run forever. The ride can still be a bit wallowy but then it isn't hard and pitchy like the Pandas (the 100HP being worse still).

If you are young enough to want and accept the harsh ride then try a 100HP, just don't expect similar mid range pull or decent fuel figures.

Yup, I've had both.

The vRS is a different animal to the 100hp - it is more comfy, more practical (bigger), is better on a long run and more economical but it loses out to the Panda for outright "fun factor".

I would disagree with earlier posts saying the Vrs was better quality tho. If you take standard of build and materials used, then maybe but when you factor in reliability things swing back towards the Panda. I owned my vRS from new and had a host of problems, leaking door seals, fogged up lights, intermittent power steering and ABS faults, whereas (touch wood) the Panda has been faultless.

They are two superb cars and you won't be disappointed if you swop to a 100hp but I would suggest an extended test drive to see if you can live with the Pandas harsh ride.

I have driven a chipped Vrs, a standard one and obviously my 100hp.

The standard Vrs was very quick and you will notice the difference on the motorway with the lesser torque that the panda has. Apart from that there wont be masses of difference really. The Fabia is more practical and more economical but with the difference in price between the petrol and diesel I wouldn't have thought there would be too much in it cost wise.

As for 0 - 60 I think the Fabia is faster, regarless of what is on paper!!

All said and done though, I have driven all three and own a 100hp. It comes highly recommended!!

Thanks for the balanced views. The Panda is definitely top of my list if/when i do change.
