This is not the first time this has happened, the first time I lost the elbow bit that connects the induction hosing to the front grill for the air feed. Fortunately it was just wedged in teh fan assembly so clicked it back in.

Was driving to the trafford centre today thinking that the car sounds a bit more 'rorty' than usual.......well I had a fair idea what that meant!

Opened the bonnet, elbow thing stuck in teh fan assembly again, but the actual flexi bit of 99p corrugated plastic that connects said elbow to airbox had completely dissapeared so I couldn't put it back together again.

I must say for a car that is barely 3 months old i'm not especially impressed. (n)

It does sound better though. (y)

Obviously i'll be onto the dealer on monday moaning about it, still at least there is no harm driving it around as it is so its not a mega issue really.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Hmm when I first got the car it went back in to have the headlamp aligned properly. Apparently this involved removing the front bumper assembly, wonder if this didn't help it?

I think it will require at least cable ties to keep it there in the future as the fit is just a bit too loose.

Might have been damaged at some point, leaned on by a mechanic?

The one on mine needs a little force to remove it.

Maybe, though it doesn't look damaged.

Anyway upshot is called the dealer, 'Hi I bought a new car from you 3 months ago. Bits appear to have fallen off of it and its sounding a bit saucy'.

Anyways explained the bit that had gone AWOL. Dealer wanted me to take it over for a look. I explained that there is no point and proceeded to describe the missing item. Got them to check if it is in stock.

I got a call back ten minutes later saying 'No we haven't got one in stock as we've not had one that's fallen off before'.

Anyways the dealer is ordering it in and I shall be taking a trip to Knutsford for them to fit it. I did suggest that they may have to resort to using non standard items like cable ties or something to ensure it doesn't fall off again in the future.

We'll see.

I'm not bloody paying for it!

It's the flexi pipe between teh airbox and elbow that has gone AWOL. Airbox is still intact.
mine used to do that all the time so i just put a nice small shiny screw in where the elbow connects to the front grill bit, works a treat (y) not bad for fiat one piece falling off everything fell off my grande punto wouldn't have enough screws for that lot lol :slayer:

I had that happen once, luckily it fell against the rad and was untouched, the solution I found was to fit a GSR lol!

But I can't do that because we get some very big puddles in manchester and I don't want to risk water ingestion.

there is a BMC CDA induction kit available for the Panda 100HP - it takes its cold feed from the existing place on the front panel, so no more risk of engine flooding than standard airbox

part code is CDASP-38

Jig made exhausts now available from the same company that supply those to..you forgot to mention that one Rob..;)

BMC CDA above a hot manifold is not a good idea though, and also need cleaning very often

But you'll have airflow anyway. Also even ambient air from low down in the engine bay is going to get warmed up by the time it goes through the inlet manifold so i'm not really convinced of the benefits of an ambient air feed.

Anyways I won't be modifying this car... that's not what I bought it for really. Also no way on earth i'm going to pay £100+ for an air filter. Last time I bought a K&N it was £15. I've still got a couple knocking around somewhere.

On another note, i'm guessing the part hasn't arrived yet as i've not had a call from the dealer today.

for not much more you can get a replacement element filter - BMC do those as well

i found a useful improvement from the panel filter on the 100HP engine
