I think you may be an exception. :p

But there are no doubt people on here who will be derogatory at French cars that haven't even owned one.

I haven't personally owned a french car, this is the first italian car i've owned.

What about the Panda MJ you had? Was that not Italian? :p

Blinkered is coming on a forum and praising a different make, then not expecting people to react. It's just how forums work!

The issue isn't people's reactions, it's not understanding how to deal with them.

The Panda's Polish isn't it (hence its reliability ;))? :D

Chris

It's a little sad when the best Fiat (in terms of reliability) in the current range is made in Poland. My 131 was made in Italy in 1979 and it was a damn good car! It was in my family for 20 years and broke down only once in that time!

LOL! Good point, okay this is the second Italian car i've owned!

Now we're getting the truth from you ;)

DING. Calling Renault's rubbish etc is like the pot calling the kettle black. Maybe it says more about the blinkered outlook of the owner and their own insecurities in that they cannot take any criticism of their own car and that it is naturally better than a rival marque. Single-make-forum tastic basically.

I think the original comment that prompted the anger was that the 100hp was half the car that the Twingo RS was....I have no problem accepting there are many 'better' cars than mine....In fact for every car out there, there is probably a 'better' one....It's just I don't like seeing it slated without good reason....

Why?....Many manufacturers build in other countries....

I mean as a matter of pride. My 131 Mirafiori was made in... you guessed it! Mirafiori and was incredibly reliable. What I mean is that it's a little sad that the other Fiat's that are still made in Italy aren't quite as reliable as the Panda. It doesn't make it any worse of a car or anything, it's just a bit sad as someone who owned an old Italian made Fiat in Italy. Wouldn't stop me buying a new one of course. Just an observation.

I said half the job, I didn't say half the car. There is a big difference. Think of it like someone wanting a car with a bit of poke which was enjoyable to drive and so on and they bought a Panda 1.1 when perhaps they should have bought a 100hp and weren't happy with it as a "fun" car to drive. That would be a car that's doing half the job. It does the whole getting you around thing but just doesn't do the job as a drivers car. Now of course for the 2k more you'd pay for an RS there won't be as much of a jump as from the 1.1 to the 100hp but I hope that illustrates my point.

The fact that TDQ (The person who this thread is actually about!) said that based on her experience of the 100hp she wished she'd had the money to get an RS kind of sums it up from her point of view and tbh when it comes to TDQ buying a car we can all **** off because only her opinion matters :D

Which is rich considering this post which was made earlier in the thread which no one seemed to have a problem with

you have just described a Toyota...

OMFG he's praising another brand he's a witch! Lets burn him! (n)

OR

Lets accept that the Japanese by and large make generally reliable cars :chin:

Meh I'm not bothered. I own a 406 and it's crap, feel free to abuse the hell out of my car :p

Are you seriously for real?

Of course people may well react. Do we need to pander to other's ignorance?

Is it really a case of not being able to mention any other marque that may actually be the equal or possibly even better than fiat? I do know a bit about single make forums, I am a director of one.

You have just proven my point, thank you.
