On my way home the other night, I had the stereo off for a change and i thought I could hear a noise which sounded like air being sucked in....

I had a look under the bonnet yesterday and it sounded as though it was coming from the back left of the air box....I couldn't see any obvious gaps or disconnected tuning, but I did notice that a Thick Green Rubber Band looped around part of the black moulded section....About here:



It was looped over the blue pipe so I'm assuming it's always been there....But surely it should be attached to something?....It's just hanging there at the minute!

Any ideas?

I'll try and take an actual pic later (this is someone else's engine bay!)

If you had a major induction leak in this position (downside of the throttle body) then your idle speed would be way off too. Is the car running normally?

Seems to be....Idles normally, pulls normally....It's a bit odd!
