hello i put the heating on in my 100hp, and had it set to 28c but the air coming from the vents wasn't very warm, i wondered if thats because the car was already hot so the climate control was controlling it or if its faulty, as i didn't have the auto mode turned on, or does it control the temperature with out auto turned on, hope this makes sence.
any ideas welcome thanks (y)

I'm guessing it's either because the cabin was already warm or the sensor is playing up. I've noticed that the cabin in my Panda seems to retain heat quiet well during the day and it's often warmer than the 22 degrees I set the climate to so I get blasted with cold air when I get in the car.

Seems to sort itself out after a couple of minutes of driving though.

I've noticed this on the way to work today, had to set it up to 27'c to make it comfortable, even though the outside temp was only 14'c. Seems odd as it's normally set about 18-20'c and rarely changed - unless the 9 yr old is fiddling!

it shouldnt control the temperature unless auto is on, it should be hot, try turning it off and back on, sounds silly but I had to do that when I turned the AC on on a hot day only to be blasted with warm air lol!

Er, no. With auto or air con off it just can't make the cabin colder than the outside air and the temp will flash on the dash.
It will still try to control at whatever temp you set, just it might not control the fan speed or air direction.

I say might, as even with auto off mine still seems to change things as it sees fit!

you've completely miss-understood me. you can control the temperature of the air yes, but it will not make any adjustments to keep the cabin that temperature with auto off. hope that made more sense?

the top bit I was on about was pressing the aircon button, and it not turning the compressor on when the button was pressed, hence turning it off and turning it back on :)

Sorry that's not right....Anything that has not been changed manually (ie fan, direction, compressor, recirculation) remains on AUTO....However the light only shows when everything is on AUTO.

The CC will still try to maintain the cabin temperature on the display, but if you have manually set the distribution and the fan, the only thing it can do is change the temperature of the air coming out so it will struggle a bit!

is that not what I've just tried to say?

auto regulates the temperature of the cabin by adjusting fan speed and direction in accordance with the temperature you set

with auto off you are just controlling the temperature of the air, direction and fan speed, not regulating the temperature of the cabin

no fella, it isn't.

If you have it set at 20'c, regardless of air con on air con off, auto on or auto off it will regulate the temp of the air coming into the cabin to maintain 20'c in there.
It will still heat or not heat the air as required, it doesn't mean the air coming in through the vents will be controlled to stay at 20'c.

lol this is getting confusing, your post made clear what I'm trying to say though, you ONLY CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE OF THE AIR with auto off, with auto on the direction of the air AND fan speed is selected ACCORDING TO TEMPERATURES in different parts of the car.

for example, its a cold day, you turn the heating to 30 degrees, switch auto on, then before you know it air is directed at your feet and out of the dash to ensure the car warms quickly (as heat rises)

on a hot day, you turn temperature down to a chilled 16 degrees and flick auto on, the air flows solely out of the dash to ensure the cabin cools quickly, once the cabin is at/close to the desired temperature the fans will back off

I'm not saying it will add cold air to reduce cabin temperature or up the temperature when its too cold, just that it will alter fan speed and direction
does this make any sense or am I swimming in circles? :p

No mate, you're still off :D

The climate control system always controls the temperature of the cabin.

Auto controls fan speed and direction of air.

Air con on allows the climate control to chill the air if needed, to bring the cabin temp down.

I think you're both right. The basic difference is that with auto off, it's significantly harder for the climate to maintain the cabin temperature (as it can't use fans, air con or specific vents) so it does its best by just varying the temperature of the air flowed in relative to the temperature in the cabin.

Lol....Kinda wrong again I'm afraid....

The only things the climate can't use is anything YOU have changed MANUALLY....

Example 1) AUTO on....I change the fan speed, the FAN becomes MANUAL (ie won't change unless I press it)....The VENTS and the AIRCON remain on AUTO (AUTO light goes off)

Example 2) AUTO on again....I change which VENTS I want, this become MANUAL (ie won't change unless I press it)....The FAN and the AIRCON remain on AUTO (AUTO light goes off)

Example 3) Finally AUTO on again....I turn off AIRCON, this become MANUAL (ie won't change unless I press it)....The FAN and the VENTS remain on AUTO (AUTO light goes off)

Basically anything you haven't touched remains on AUTO :D

Hope this all makes sense....I'm not trying to be pedantic honest!
