Has anyone heard anything about the most likely UK release date for the Panda Cross? The sales staff at Rockingham Cars have basic pre-sales information - CO2, mpg etc. but nothing yet on prices, colours or options. Their guesstimate would be sales starting in September. The new Brio catalogue lists a Cross towbar, but no other accessories (apart from a diecast model of the Cross).

Mmm.. i think Fiat is running behind on its schedule of releasing some of its UK models. I got a phonecall from Fiat UK in Jan 08 in response to the email i had sent them to say that they would be releasing the Fiat Panda 4x4 in multijet in the UK for August 08 but ive checked with dealers that have been at recent meetings with Fiat and they still havent been told of its future arrival. I was talking to another dealer and he had said that the first that they would know about it would be when a demo would arrive in their yard! hehe. Unfortunately it seems to be the case across the board with Fiat. The cross and the multijet diesel 4x4 would be big sellers but Fiat dont seem to see this...:bang:

I've just received an email from Kevin at Rockingham Car.

"I have in front of me details of the new Panda Cross, which will retail at £11,995.

We should have one to see by the end of next week.

Fiat are putting in place a 0% finance package with it too. Place a 30%
deposit for interest free up to 3 years".

Looks like the UK will get a 4X4 Multijet Panda - at last.

Coolage!

I like that! But my 05 4x4 is still going strong. And with unleaded at 10p litre cheaper than diesel, it'll take years to get back the difference in price, so for now, will stick with 1.2 and go for Cross when there's a few pre-owned ones out there. Still the only real difference is the 'pretend' diff lock (it actually puts the brake on one side) which is what that photo is to show off (the rear wheel off the ground doesn't spin, so it can keep going along those offset ramps). I'm sure that, in time, I'll find the answer to how to add the necessary controls into the ABS to retrofit the ELD to the 'normal' 4x4... (by the way, you can 'fool' the normal 4x4 to stop a rear lifted wheel from spinning by lightly applying the handbrake!)
