Well I had my first niggle with the Panda this morning and my boot seems reluctant to unlock/open when using the unlock button on the keyfob and I can't hear the boot unlocking when the other doors do (although I can't remember if I ever did). When I use the boot release button on the key fob it opens just fine. This is confusing as I'd have thought they'd be using the same unlock mechanism which would point to the problem being in the boot handle itself?

I've had a search and it seems the boot microswitch is a common problem, but the symptoms I've read seem to be the exact opposite of what I'm seeing with the boot having trouble remaining closed rather than having trouble opening. Before I contact a dealer to get it sorted, does anyone have any thoughts on what it could be? I haven't really experimented with it too much as I needed to get to work but I'll pop out at lunch time and see if it's still happening.

iirc there isn't really a lock on the boot, it just doesn't open when the handle is pulled and the car is locked.

If it works fine from the keyfob but not by hand, suggest the boot handle microswitch is duff as you suspect.

Yup before mine was replaced it was either sticking shut or popping open on it's own. Both symptoms are microswitch.
