......on the new Panda? I have put a set of 15inch wheeels on with 195/45/ the same as the 100hp , but looking at some of those wondweful p;ictures, I would like to put on 215/45/15, which Toyo make, anybody know if I could squeeze them into wheel arch??

Also why cant I see my photo under user name???

is there one to see?

As a side note, if you're looking to increase the width of the tyre, you'll want to reduce the tyre profile to maintain a similar rolling radius. This will mean you won't affect your speedo reading too much.

Check out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to compare current and proposed sizes :D

Not really sure on the original question, but I suspect it'll come down to the width of the alloy. The 100hp ones are 6.5J I think.

cheers for tyre calculator, very handy...but I am not changing tyre profile just width & how wide can get in without rubbing something,
cheers

The tyre profile is a percentage of the width so it will be 45% of 215 rather than 45% of 195 :D

You have to change the profile or it wont go on.. and then at the very low profile tyres, the wheel width becomes critical as they dont have the wall to play with.. you would need to use a 215/40 to keep the same diameter.. a 215/45 will be 20mm taller.. what tyre size did the car have as standard?

What are the pros and cons of wider tires as compared to the narrow ones? I am still thinking of going from the default 155 to something wider what is officially available.

I think a narrow tire means more responsiveness, more feedback and different kind of fun.

I think a wider tire on the same car will bring more direction stability at speed,
less responsive handling and more grip in turns. And more noise i guess.
Oh and worse handling in snow and monsoon rain conditions.

Well thankyou all you guys, everyone has not quite got what i was trying to say, my point is , hey doesnt all cars look better with wider tyres & good looking big wheels.... My baby,, I swapt a R1200rt bmw bike for this , having bought the cheapest panda avaailable, for my wife as a second car. I have driven & had as company cars as E320cdi X5 Passats , golfs, fantastic cars,...BUT THIS LITTLE PANDA IS FANTASTIC,,,,£7K NEW NEW WHEELS 15INCH 195/45, DIESEL CHIPPED, F......K I FOUND MY ULTIMATE CAR WHICH IS AS MUCH FUN AS A BIKE.....
I DIGRESS CAME AS ORIGINAL TYRES 14INCH ...NOW TOTALLY DIFFERENT, FANTASTIC,,, NEED ECONOMY,,,, IF I CAN LIVE & DONT WONDER,,FANCY A 100HP WITH LPG CONVERSION IN A COUPLE OF YRS,,,,,,, CHEERS,, NOTHINGS PERFECT BUT I LOVE THIS LITTLE BABY, THROING IT AROUND CORNERS....

If you do that you will ruin the ride handling even further. (n)

Agreed. The only reason I see on a road car to increase the width of the tyre is so that you're running a more common tyre size. Common sized tyres will be cheaper. Just doing it to fill the arch out or to "improve" handling is not a good reason.
