Had my Panda two days, just been down to Sainsbury's to grab some stuff and the EBD and ABS failure lights come on!!

Trip to the dealer, obviously, but will I be covered under warranty and has anyone else had a similar problem.

It has 3300 miles on the clock.

Presumably it's under 3 years so should be covered by Fiat/main dealer warranty :D

Chris

Try switching it off and back on again as per any computer equipment.
Sorry to be so glib (def. marked by lack of intellectual depth) but it may just work.
Hard to believe that such a new car can have a serious fault.

Already tried that, not working. It's also vibrating which I can feel through the pedals which is a bit worrying. :|

Well, don't panic, dealers won't be open until Tues and maybe by then the fault will have self-corrected, if not then you must still be covered by warranty and they will fix it.
Just a thought, did your under the bonnet activity with the light bulbs disturb any electrical connections. Just check out connectors on as many components as you can. Give them a good wiggle and push them home. Probably a red herring but worth a try. Total power failure on my daughter's 1.1 Active a couple of years ago was due to a slightly misplaced battery terminal.

May have done, but I drove my car for about 2 hours last night after replacing the bulbs and nothing was wrong then.

I'll have a look anyway, thanks.

have you checked the brake fluid level? low fluid could cause warning lights. also have you actually tried jumping on the brakes to see if the ABS kicks in? could just be a faulty sensor and the system is actually working ok...

Well I just popped the bonnet and found the source of the noise. It's this circular grey thing:

What is it? It's vibrating and it's really, really hot. My car's been off for over an hour.

Bit worrying bout it being really hot an hour after switching the car off. I havnt a clue what that grey thing does, tho i do have something with thin black pipes coming out of it on my Mk2 Punto (W Reg) & thought it was linked to the brakes somehow.

See if anyone more experienced on here posts sumthin in the next 30mins or so but if not, if it were me id probably call the AA (Fiat Assurance) number in your handbook & ask if someone can come out to look at it & if necessary disconnect the power to it to prevent any further heat or fire or anything.

Dont wanna make it sound scary but that's what id be worried about if it was really hot.

he has a point after the spontaneously combusting corsas

Okay well I called the AA Fiat Assurance people and they've sent someone out so hopefully it should be sorted soon enough.

Okay well AA man came out, disconnected the fuses but it didn't stop buzzing. :|

So he just left the battery disconnected and said I'll have to reconnect when I go to the dealers. Do I have to go to the dealer I got it from, or can I just go any one?

Checked manual, removed fuse. Didn't work.

Checked manual again, removed fuse. Didn't work.

Checked manual again, removed two fuses. Didn't work.

Erm I jet washed it yesterday yes. Although TBH (and I'm not just saying this) it didn't have a very hard jet.

Are we talking about an external jetwash or underbonnet jetwash?

Surely if the car is jetwashed externally (i.e. with bonnet closed etc) then water ingress should not be possible? I have jetwashed numerous cars without any problems.

Underbonnet jetwash is another matter entirely, and not something that I would do.

Where is the ABS ECU located?
