Hi guys,

Hope someone can help!

My remote locking no longer works on my Eleganza. I've replaced the key fob battery and I get a single red flash from the key but the car doors don't unlock.

Now is the key fob light meant to flash once? or should it flash twice when you press the button once (for less than a second)?. Reason I ask is in the Panda manual it says that if I press the button and I get a single flash then the battery needs replacing - but I've done this already!

So, all you lucky panda remote locking people, can you press your fob button and let me know 'one flash or two?!' lol!

Just checked on my 100 - single flash for lock, single flash for unlock...

If I hold the lock button down I get multiple flashes, but presumably that just indicates the remote transmitting (wasted signals to the car)?

i dont know if it works on fiats but on some fords and Vauxhalls :yuck: to relearn the remote to the car you put the key in the ignition turn it to position 2 (one where all the dash lights come on (mar :confused:) then press the buttons on the remote then turn off remove key shut door and try..

Might be worth a go...

Yes, had to reprogramme the key to a friends Escort. How long was your battery flat/removed for?

Should say in the car's handbook how to re-programme if its possible without a dealership having to do it.

Alas, my remote issues have gone from bad to worse.

After 2 weeks of opening the car manually, the car decided yesterday not to even start. It was dead. First point of call replace the battery and job done, starts no problems. However, my remote locking issue still persists so I took it to Fiat this morning only to be told that my key is now 'defunct' and I'd have to pay £160 for a new key.

Sigh.

New key being picked up next week.

Is it me, or is £160 just a little excessive?
 
the flat battery in the fob has f##k all to do with the Immobilizer side of the key.. it works by a passive microchip in the key it uses no power there is a coil in the steering column shroud which emits a RF signal which the microchip then reflects a code which is picked up by the coil and decoded by the cars Immobilizer circuit


do you have the key on a big bunch of keys??

Fascinating what you can pick up in these forums. If only the idiot at Fiat could explain how it works maybe I wouldn't feel so miffed at paying so much. He literally went 'err, it's defunct' and got his calculator out to see how much it would cost! I don't even know if I'll get two keys (i.e. a spare like I have now).

My car key isn't with a big bunch of other keys - just my front door keys.

Oh and just to be clear, my main car battery went flat (not the one in the key fob although I did replace that too). There was hardly any charge in it and the RAC bloke (I don't like getting my hands dirty) stuck in a new one.
