We're picking up a basic, 1.2 Dynamic on Friday, does anyone have a source for non Fiat anti scuff rubbers to stick along the door body line? Yes, I know most people are taking them off, but the wife wants some - as it's her car, seems fair enough. Local Halripyouofffords and Motorhaventgotaclueworld don't stock such things and it's a long time since I went looking for such stuff. I've found a set on Ebay, but don't want to rely on a seller based in Poland
Any help appreciated.

Edit: Sorry, I've discovered they're actually called, "Side rubbing strips". Who knew?

Try places like poundland and it's ilk i'm sure i've seen some in there

That was quick! No Poundland in this neck of the woods - as in, out in the sticks - hopefully I can have a wander round some spares type places in Newport on the weekend. Thanks.

That's the problem, we're so far out we get charged the stealth tax, we only have a pound shop. We'd kill for a 99p once ;)

Why not just buy the official Fiat ones from your dealer?

The nearest dealer to us is a 40 odd mile round trip and we can only get down there on a Saturday morning. Although we're collecting the car tomorrow, Friday, we're unable to get a free weekend for another month - and possibly not even then. I was sort of hoping to get a third party item locally (Once upon a time - OK, years ago - practically every town had a bolt on bits shop which would have stocked such things, but it's obviously no longer the case ) Also, although I'd much prefer the correct, Fiat items, £70 ish seems a lot for some sticky backed rubber. No problem, I'll try and convince her it'll be fine for now and then ring the dealer and see if they might have them in stock, with the hope I can get down there mid next week - although that'll be a bus trip for me. Pah! And yes, what's £70 towards looking after a new car? But that's another reason we bought the Panda, low cost. There's still a petrol locking cap, floor mats, polish and paint sealer to get and it all adds up when you're on a budget :(

I have seen some on ebay [rubbing strips] for the panda ..they are from Poland though so dont know if you want to send for them from there..

It's Ebay, the place is awash with scammers from all over the world, let alone this country. I've plodded through it selling now and again and buying a few times, for several years. I've had one bad deal, really bad, which was my fault (never buy when under the influence of too much drink, after staggering home late and making a last second bid ) and like to think it's because I take care over who I buy from and where it is they're located. I won't sell to anyone outside the UK either. I'm sure I've missed a few Good Deals and "meeting" some very nice people as a result, but that's my choice.
Picking up the car today and it's lashing it down out there. That'll make a visual inspection difficult then - pre reg'd model by the way and not from a Fiat dealer, hence the problem with getting side rubbing strips.

You cant just say that without telling us what you brought whilst drunk!!!!!

Am I missing something? Why wouldn't you buy from Poland?? It is where your car comes from after all.

JON

I haven't got an ebay account and I think you do need one to buy from there.. well strictly not true cos I check if they have a phone number and phone them on that ..I have bought parts on German eBay the same way ;)

These side strips from Poland, on Ebay for about £30, are really good, imo. :)
I just went out and took these photos of the ones I've got on my car. They are good quality, and have self adhesive backings that are very efficient. :yum:
These guys aren't scammers- they are genuine, in my experience (y)
I've just looked on Ebay, and they (PAWA) don't seem to be selling these things anymore though (n)

Wow! Excellent, thank you! I didn't say this particular one was a scammer, just that they are out there, it pays to research the sellers history before bidding, for example. Rats, if he's not selling any more I'll have to go for the real things.
My late night, off my skull, buy was supposed to be a 5.1 surround sound system and DVD player. What I got was a HUGE cardboard box and a nice set of chrome stands, a user manual for the non existent DVD unit and a big pile of cabling to which I could one day attach a set of speakers and a sub. If only I had any <sigh>.
Lots of fun today when collecting the Dynamic. A quick trot round revealed two deep gouges into the bodywork on the passenger side. Brilliant service from the garage, they rushed it back to the workshop to "see what they could do" before you could say "full rub down, prime and respray in matching paint please". The sales guy we were left with suggested we might like to nip off and get the tax sorted. But we decided to wait. And back the car came, complete with two deep gouges now neatly blended to the body with the subtle and impressive use of a.....paint stick! Gob smacked doesn't really sum it up. Especially when I swiped the paint back off with one fell swoop. The wife - with amazing calm and politeness I thought - told them they could have it back and she'd go pick another one from the display. So, we've had TWO 1.2 Dynamics today, but the second one has apparent immaculate bodywork and is now parked outside.
Great little cars, aren't they? :D
