Hi

Wonder if anyone can help. Today as my partner was pulling away after doing a turn in the road and got to about 25 mph the engine suddenly reved up to about 6000 rpm and stayed there but the car would not accelerate at all. She pulled over and restared the engine and then it was ok again and has been since. Has anyone had this before, was it just a glitch I wonder?

My Panda is a 2004 Eleganza Dualogic and it was in Auto mode.

Thanks

Shaun

clutch slipped??

As the car drives 'by wire' It could be an accelerator pedal malfunction as its not connected directly to the throttle, the same pedal also links electronically
to the clutch & it appears to have revved the engine but not closed the clutch

Thanks for answers, Should I get car to garage or could it be a 1 off glitch? I have read on other posts that the auto gearbox can be reset would that help?RegardsShaun

Thanks for advice but the panic is over I have "fixed" the problem. My partner was accidently nudging the gearstick and hence turning Auto mode off without realising it!!!! It was then obviously reving really high without changing gears!!! She only passed her test last week and has never driven it before in non auto mode!!! She is so embarresed though!!! you have got to laugh!!Thanks again

Not as funny as me! I used to have a Panda Selecta (CVT) and loved it. I had to get a runaround whilst my Skoda was off the road and so got a Micra CVT.
I hadn't driven an auto for ages and when I brought it I went to the petrol station and had to my car forward for someone - I put my size 12's straight to the floor thinking it was the brake but it was the accelerator! Luckily no-one was in front of me and the car shot about 5 metres forward knocking sand buckets everywhere!!! I was so red faced when I went to pay for my petrol!

Almost certain she knocked it into Neutral as then it will rev without moving but if you don't select 'auto ' the car would still select the gears to avoid damaging the engine if you don't move the stick yourself
