I don't get my MJ for ages still but I was curious to know if the Diesel engine has a running in period. If so what is it?

Dont bother run it like you would do normally drive 48000m in 18mths never missed a beat, thrashed most days driven by Learners all other times great little car Alan.

You haven't seen me drive! I think i'll take it easy for the first few hundred miles

Don't worry too much about running in. Think i went reasonably easy (ie not over 3500 revs for the first hundred miles, then the occasional run to 4K up till 300 miles). But in truth it really doesn't matter that much.

Once i was over 600 miles i pretty much redlined it on a daily basis. Its not used any oil at all in 3500miles.

Try and avoid the motorway if you can, no big deal if you can't, but engines bed in better if the revs go up and down instead of sitting at a steady speed. Some people haven't reported any oil consumption but mine used about 1.5 litres during the first 12,000 miles, but after that hasn't used any.
