Should be picking up my new 100HP this week, was wondering how every one on here ran there car in. I know the engines are ran in before they are fitted to the car but what about the brakes , transmission etc.

As Far as transmissions are conserned ..just dont labour the gearbox or over rev in any one gear ..change gear at respectable speeds and all should be well ..after about 1000 miles you can welly it then

Fiat's instructions are to not use full throttle for extended periods when new. Personally I was a bit more cautious - no full throttle and no more than 4,000 revs until I hit 650 miles, then gradually increased the top revs and used full throttle occasionally until I got to 1,000 miles. After that it was thrash at will.
It hasn't done any harm, uses virtually no oil - less than 200ml in 2,300 miles.

There aren't really any gearbox running in instructions, but light use at first would probably be a good idea until it beds in.

Brakes - treat with caution as you would new discs and pads for the first 100 miles or so again.

You will notice the engine become more free revving as the miles pile on.

Don't know about running in but I now have 9000 on the clock and the brakes have squealed from day one......the groan on reversing is new but actually makes for a pleasant change.

Still love it though.

Enjoy!
