Hi
Became a Panda-keeper today!
Anyone nearish St Albans have some unwanted Panda roof rails I could have? I think they seem quite useful/funky but my second-hand Dynamic doesn't have them.
No idea what they're worth. Presumably not impossible to retro-fit?
Cheers

To buy them new they are £175, They are very easy to fit on the roof of ur car there are 4 plastic plugs all u need to do is take them out and bolt the roof bars in there place.

Not quite! £175 is the factory option price. To order from a dealer afterwards costs £337.32.....

Strewth! That'll be a second-hand set then (if I can find any).
Thanks

How can they possibly justify charging ten times as much for the lengthways as for the crossways bars?!

OZ - thanks for ebay lead but it seems it's for roof bars, not the longitudinal rails unfortunately. I can't actually find them anywhere on the net. Even tried italian sites but don't seem to come up...but maybe Italian ebayo methinks. I bet they're a standard size made in China for several car manufacturers.
Oh well...just have to look less stylish than I want to.
But the price Fiat seem to charge is extortionate.

The longitudinal roof bars are expensive but not that expensive. I have just got a set from my local dealer. They do not come as a kit, you have to order two bars £80 + VAT, four end caps £40 + VAT and four bolts £15 + VAT. Still expensive with the ruddy VAT but not £337 !!

Two days if in UK supply chain otherwise back order which can take forever. Otherwise Franco at Ricambio can get them for you, he can get anything for Italian cars, literally.

I'll try and dig out the part numbers if anyone wants them.

I've been told by a local dealer that regular FIAT roof bars (cross-bars?) come at the price around 50 EUR (pair). They can be fitted in the same holes as the rails...I tend to drive my bike around a lot so this is certainly a very welcome information to me!

Whats the point in having those rails realy? The 4x4 does look great with them, I must admit.

I bought the crossways bars from Fiat, they were £48.00.
They are made specifically for the Panda so fit perfectly, and look pretty good to. But as with all crossways bars they hit your fuel consumption, my 1.2 has since lost anything between 4-7 mpg depending on the speed driven.
I bought them to mount a Karrite roofbox which is fantastic when going away for weekends etc. (By the way the holes in the Karrite do not align with the roof bars so i needed to drill my own in the box).
I will remove the bars when not in use as the loss in fuel consumption is just too great.
But for less than £50.00 (y).

I did a little math and came up with the fact that the usage of rails would become rational @ ap. 25K miles +...

Now thats insane imho...The only advantage I see with rails is that the car looks better with them and it doesnt influence on the consumption (basicly, you dont have to take them off). Unless you're doing 80 mph+ average on daily basis, using the rails doesnt make sense to me...

Hello, I too became a new Panda owner today - bought a 55reg dynamique.

Totally agree that roof rails make the car look better - has anyone found a good solution to purchasing these? Ebay still has an abundance of deals on bars not rails!

I see from this thread that they are the holy grail!...unless you re-mortgage!

Any advice gratefully received!!

Cheers.
