Airbag warning lights on - low mileage 04

Went out to defrost the 04 this morning and was greeted with the two airbag warning lights coming on, they stayed on for the entire journey in. Thought it might have been the cold, but went down to the carpark there now and its heated up a bit in the sun, no different.

I've no intention of *needing* the airbags but its going for its NCT shortly and you generally fail for any warning lights...

I'm guessing theres a loose connection somewhere, initially thought it would be the passenger airbag switch but both lights (the baby seat warning one and the normal one) are on. Anyone experienced this?

Cool Re: Airbag warning lights on - low mileage 04

I haven't been a panda owner long but I haven't heard of this on the panda before ..was a common fault on the stilo tho until fiat revamped the loom and connectors ..I would suggest you have a clean up of the connectors with contact cleaner ..they were under the seats on the stilo but not to sure where they are on the panda

Might be worth asking around for how much a diagnosis of the problem will cost. If you have the problem pinpointed it can save you a lot of messing on.

Just went and disabled the pass. airbag to clear the red warning light (now only have the yellow baby seat light on), did try de/renabling to no avail. The slot for the key is a bit loose though...

Work around the corner from a main dealer (Airton) so will bring it in after pay day, skinted for the rest of the month though...

There are places other than Fiat that have the required equipment to read and report on the faults. Chances are they will be a lot cheaper. Might be worth a ring around.

The warning light actually went off.... and then the same day some twunt in a foreign (well UK) reg camper van runs me off the road and leaves the scene; so its going in to the garage anyway. All four passenger side panels dented, pass. door probably a gonner

Exactly, especially as there was a Service Bulletin released to Fiat Techs ages ago regarding the airbag warning light coming on and an "exclusion switch faulty" error stored.
