Today, I went down to see Pete Hoffman at the Red Dot tuning centre, Watford - and what a great day :D

The idea was to have some standard runs with the bog standard car, then get the car fitted with the fit, and do some more runs. Also this would give an idea of what could be worked on for the live remap in a few weeks time, hopefully.

Well, we sure got some interesting results :chin:

4 runs were done initially, 2 with Sports mode on and 2 with Sports mode OFF - the funny thing was, better results seemed to be gleaned with it off. Even more surprisingly, the car was coming out with about 107 to 108bhp, as standard

Then Pete moved onto fitting the kit, and fabricating the bracket, without Phil being around  very impressive, although the whole kit is a bit of a squeeze and tight fit, so many pipes and obstructions in the way...

NOW on to the 2nd lot of 4 runs :slayer: again, better results were gotten with the button OFF  - revved up to 7000rpm in 3rd gear, and it sounded awesome, with it hitting 110bhp this time.

I have attached the graph, showing an average of BEFORE and AFTER - more importantly, the graphs have smoothed out, plus look at the extra torque :yum: The remap will make this even smoother.

Just had a 45 mile drive back on the M1, and it sounded great :D can't wait to have a play around town tomorrow ;)

Many thanks to the guys who helped out today (y)

thats a very big hole it's filled at about 5500rpm! btw, you come all the way down to my back yard without a hello! tsk tsk:p
Yep, did it off the cuff - only decided last night, plus I finished up at 3.45pm and wanted to get back on the M1 before it got reallll bad.

thing is with sport mode, the power is waaaay more accessible. far more responsive. if you have a 100hp, you'll know what i mean.

i was hoping for a lot better torque increase though.

Oh yes, I know what you mean about the sports mode - just interesting on the RR.

As for torque, this was only from the induction kit - the live remap will show the full gains to be had.

yeha i suppose the engines not set up to make the most of the induction maybe. will be interesting. when the remap happening. rr day>?

Just one question really ..how did he manage to bend the bracket without Moi there :D did he bend it the same as Garry's or just bend it to 90 degrees and bolt it up from underneath :)

He had his ways

No doubt he will be along soon and tell you - he never went in from underneath though, or did he :chin: he did make a nice diagram of it though :D

I'd be wary of the claimed 107-108bhp as standard, borne out by the dyno graph. BHP is a calculation of torque and rpm, if worked out right the graphs will always cross at 5252 rpm.

The Sport button only makes a difference under 3000 revs according to Fiat, so not sure where the changes come from - dyno repeatability?

The filter does obviously give gains though, worth the cash.

Nice diagram  seeing as I couldn't decipher the last one that should be interesting :D

Never yet seen one of his kits not make a worthwhile gain ..also I have seen many cars make more than the quoted bhp figures on the forums I go on and its a regular occurrence ..many of the stilo's over in Greece Germany and France for instance make 110/12 bhp and not the 103 as stated in the book ..and a 1.6 made 117bhp last week on the rollers as standard ..a lot depends on the engine how it was assembled /tolerances etc and the correct grade of oil can even release more bhp than another brand and viscosity ..there are many variables here as to why an engine should turn out more than stated :)

All down to if you trust the person that's doing the dyno run tho isn't it ..and in this instance Red dot have mine ..their reputation is second to none as far as I am concerned ..they would have no reason to fiddle this one or any other one :)

And the same applies to Chipped UK ..another excellent company ..my stilo made a 3hp loss at chipped did they fiddle that one so I would feel good

The torque and bhp are measured a the wheels on a rolling road, but Fiat's figures are quoted at the flywheel.

The transmission losses are calculated by the operator on the rolling road, which inevitably leads to five different rolling road operators giving you five different bhp figures in my experience.
