Silly question I know but how does the "active boot" work.

I have just brought a 2004 Eleganza which I believe has the "active boot" function but the only way I can seem to get into the boot is by pressing down the third button on key fob.

Is there another way to open the boot?

Many Thanks

Shaun

The boot unlocks/locks with the rest of the car when pressing the top/middle button on the fob....It then 'pops' open when you squeeze the tailgate handle (under the black bar, above the number plate, between the np lamps).

If the central locking is locked, the boot can also be opened with the bottom button on the fob as you point out (this leaves the rest of the car locked)

Sadly (?) there is no internal release (well unless it's VERY well hidden!)

Thanks

Should this be easy to do?

I have to squeeze really hard and it only works on the far right hand of the handle not in the middle or the left, is this a common fault or is this normal?

Many Thanks

Ours works as soon as you squeeze the handle part (in the middle) so maybe the switch/sensor in yours is out of line?

Thanks for all your advice.

Took it back to dealer today and is going to need a whole new handle apparently but takes a few days to order in. Luckily as I only brought car on Saturday they are doing it for free.

As well as the door fault my climate control fan wasn't working as described in an earlier post and apparently it needs some kind of new heater part??? which they are also doing.

Really makes me wonder what kind of checks they do on the used cars as I thought they were all fully serviced and checked over before being sold as part of Fiats "Quality Assured Scheme"??? Even one of the washers was not directed right and was shooting water way over the windscreen and I thought that was checked in any kind of service? At least that is what the service guide said I read while waiting today!!!

Also got them to do the 3 year bodywork check which they had also forgotten!!!

Just wish the dealer I got it from wasn't an hour and a half drive away!!!

Local dealer didn't want to know and was going to charge me an hours labour just to have a look at it even though its not 3 years old until the middle of October!

Was going to get all my services and stuff done at my local dealer but I dont think I will bother now!

All cars are supposed to be PDI'd before leaving their premisses but some times I do wonder ..When the wife bought her Grande punto :yuck: now departed :slayer: I checked the back door to see if they would open and :bang: they didnt and the fault hadnt been rectified either  I think its always best to have a good check around any car when you collect it regardless of whether you should or not ..its to late after if you find [for instance] a ding some where as its going to be their word against yours and we all know who will win out at the end of the day ..

I have a story about a Poorly Done Inspection, not a Fiat, a brand spanking new Ford Transit I got for my work a few years ago. I'm glad they didn't put more than a litre of fuel in, because when I stopped at the first petrol station, I noticed steam coming out of the bonnet, which I thought was odd for a vehicle with a total of 7 miles on the clock. I had a look under the bonnet, and found a hose not connected to anything, leaking coolant all over the engine block!
