My Panda has a slight issue in that I just got home, checked the oil and found that there is none in it and the whole underneath is covered in oil.

The AA are on the way but apparently the dealer will be closed by the time they can get the car to them, if it needs to go there, and they wont stay open for the extra half an hour for me tonight.

Hope it's nothing serious but I am really worried about what might be wrong with the car such as long term damage etc.

Need them to hurry and get here :(

Will keep you updated.

Sounds like You may have lost the sump plug possibly ? I once fitted an oil filter on a Primera years ago & driving along the oil light came on & I'd lost the lot as it hadn't aligned properly, didn't do any damage at all luckily for me & hope its the same for you

Well, good news is it isn't major.

The guy from the AA said that the sump isn't right, as one of the plug things is broken on it and that is is dripping slightly. I spoke to the guy from Fiat about the fact the oil light didn't come on and the dipstick didn't read anything. To quote "the light won't come on until it's dangerously low."

I have the car booked in to be fixed tomorrow afternoon. Just hope it's done right and that it doesn't happen again.

Just a bit worried about it going wrong and stuff. I mean, the garage is about 30 miles away and I have been told it "should be okay." The "should" makes me a bit sceptical. Fingers crossed it makes it!!!

If you are concerned and it is only ''slightly dripping'' then just put a small amount in just to be safe

if your really concerned ( i take it your panda isnt over year old) use the free AA cover that comes with the car and have it dropped off on a flat bed, the last thing you want is oil on the manifold or the cat if it gets hot enough your risking it catching fire don't want to sound alarmist but........

Yea he put a litre in to see if it it poured out and thats how he saw it was only doing it a bit. I just don't want it getting worse. I know I'm probably over reacting but I can just see it breaking completely and pouring out everywhere.

Best to put it on a trailer - oil on the road is extremely dangerous for motorcycles (and a transit van with bald tyres, but that's another story), and running without it can damage your engine. I scrapped a 1983 Ford Fiesta a few years ago, 300 miles after changing the oil, but without the sump plug washer. D'oh! I'd recently replaced the thermostat, and repaired a water leak, so it had stopped overheating. The oil change was supposed to be the last thing to do to get it running right, and I couldn't figure out why the temp gauge was so high - I checked the water, plenty of it, checked the dipstick, the oil was still perfectly clean. After my Dad saw it, he told me that in fact it was not clean, but non-existent! :bang:

Well I drove it down safely so it's all okay.
Got the sump replaced and that's all I know. got no receipt or anything to see what they did which is a bit frustrating.
Just glad it's all fixed and isnt as major as it first looked!!!
