Dear All,

A naive question..

I ordered a Panda 100HP 1-week ago and my dealer has been trying to find me one. He's 'found' and reserved me a new orleans blue which, I guess, should be with him in a few days. He says it is one of the only ones he could find in the country currently available to him.

My concern is how it is getting to the dealer and what mileage it will arrive with, i.e. will someone be driving it the length of the country with red numberplates on to deliver it to him?
Do FIAT dealers swap cars between each other outside of a group of dealers? Is it likely just to be spare, i.e. unsold, which has just arrived in Bristol and will be coming on a transporter with the rest of a delivery from Bristol?

Obviously I want a 'new' car with minimal delivery mileage. I guess this is a silly question but this is my first new car. I guess I can ask the dealer..

Cheers,
Mathew.

i would imagine it would be on the back of a transporter, too far for a dealer to send a driver there and back for one car. doesn't hurt to ask the question, after all it's going to be your car, ours arrived with 6 miles iirc, which if all the cars coming in from bristol, or even south or east coast ports, meant a transporter to slough

Yeah most likely on a transporter with 10-15 miles on the clock at most I would reckon.

Dealer may have done a swap for something he had with the other dealer.

Enjoy it when you get!(y)

Worth remembering that some 'new' cars have spent months sitting in a compound either here or in mainland Europe.

But either way - make sure you give it a good look over before you sign on the dotted line.

ive noticed my local dealer has this car - pre reg on 07 plate . salesman using it. why not consider extra discount on pre reg car with a few houndred miles on it?

The car I have ordered is new. I got a pretty good deal so am not interested in pre-reg or pre-owned. Plus, I've already paid a deposit. Thanks anyway though :) BTW - the Panda 100HP is a 1.4 16v not a 1.1!

I was mainly wondering how a dealer 'finds' a car without factory ordering it and how it gets to him if it's not coming with a large delivery from the docks. Obviously I prefer to have it now rather than in 12-weeks and this was part of my reasoning in ordering it with no options as he said it would likely be much quicker.

Cheers.

Might well come on the back of a mini-transporter either by itself or with another 1 or 2 cars. I've seen many new reg cars heading up/down the M1 either by themselves or with another car on the back of a lorry.

They can look at all the other dealers stock on an extra page only available to the off the main fiat web site.
We looked for a white one for me, but could only find one on the channel islands and they didnt want to give it up.
The car i ended up with was transported and ended up with only 13 miles but i have to suspect they let it go because it has faulty steering wheel buttons ( waiting for new wheel) and non- mp3 stereo ( only just found out from this forum, Thanks!)
Check it carefully before you drive off, is my advise, wish i did!

Thanks for your tips (y)

I found out a bit more from my dealer today.. the car he 'found' is actually an unsold one that is near the end of production or near the start of shipping from Poland. So it'll be here in 3-4 weeks. Still much better than 12-weeks for a completely new factory order and probably better for me than re-directed stock. The dealer has been very good so far
