Just bought an ELM lead and for now downloaded the free version of MES with a view to buying the full version.

1. Works on the 2017 Panda and scans fine but if I attempt to connect to the 'Other' or 'Body' say, I get the message "Connect Adapter 3/yellow". That expected? I know I need the full version for engine.

2. When I plug it into the 2011 Panda 169 it's not finding it at all. Again, expected?

Thanks.

Hi :)

Try the 'scan for devices' ;)

Should list a few modules :)

Hi,
When connecting to some modules on the car (to get more than just basic fault codes) you may need a "coloured" adaptor like these
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272718531903?
or
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161715574253?
They go between the interface and the socket on the car.

You should be able to connect to the 2011 Panda. What EXACT interface did you buy? Some of the very cheap (and some not so cheap) ones have a design defect that can stop them working on some cars or specfic modules. A EL327 interface "modified for Multiecuscan" from a supplier like the two I listed above (I've used both in the past) should remove this issue. There is also the possibility that there is something wrong with the car, but that is less likely.

Thanks. Bought this one:

The 2017 car hooked up fine and scanned OK. I got the 'nowt for free' message when connecting to Engine and presumably need no extra leads for that with full MES.

The 2011 car didn't even pass the ELM test........will try again tomorrow.

Hi,
That interface should be OK with either car. The seller does look a bit dodgy though. They are not MES distributors so should not be providing even the trial version on the CD. The BMW system they are selling is clearly a breach of copyright. Make sure you download the software directly from www.multiecuscan.com.
If MES is not seeing the ELM 327 on the 2011 car, check to make sure that there is +12V on pin 16 of the cars OBDII connector, there may be a blown fuse.

Thanks. I did download the MES from the web though the CD was needed for the driver. I'll check the pin when I nip out later.
