Hi everyone. Further to my previous thread, I've recently inspected the turbo assembly on my 2016 Panda 4x4 TA and confirmed it has suffered the dreaded actuator rod hole wear. I've carried out a short term repair involving crimping a nail into the hole to fill some of the space but still allow free movement of the part....this has actually helped a little!
The actuator looks easy enough to replace, but I can't for the life of me find the part online. Plenty of similar items, but instead of the 1 short and two long studs needed to attach to the turbo, they only have 3 short studs, seemingly to attach to an angled bracket on a different design of Panda turbo?
Fiat themselves had advised me that, due to the rod hole oval'ing, I require a new turbo. Surely that's not the case and SOMEONE must supply the correct actuator?! In fact, all that actually needs replacing is the rod connector itself, plenty of them on the market, but I can't get the old one to budge, can't get purchase on the smooth rod to unscrew the connector!
Does anyone know of anyone who can supply the correct actuator for my turbo?
Many thanks in advance,
Tony.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the TA specifically, but have you tried punching your VIN into ePer and finding the part number that way?

I wasn't aware of that facility, but will look into it now! Thanks ?

Is this what you need?
It says for 500 twin air but lists several turbo part numbers in the description.

Unfortunately not....There are plenty of those available it seems, but the one I need looks exactly the same except two of the three threaded studs are much longer. This allows it to attach to a purposely moulded part of the turbo, rather than that type which attaches via a bracket and isn't suitable for mine. I'm beginning to think my Panda was fitted with a one-off turbo leftover or something ?

What is actually worn?

Is it the clevis on the end of the actuator rod, like this (example, it's the wrong one for your car)
https://www.turbosmart.com/product/iwg75-clevis-with-8mm-pin/
Or
The wastegate spindle, like this

It's just the clevis that's worn. I've looked at replacements which are widely available, but the problem there is trying to get the old one off of the rod...it's stuck fast and it's near impossible to get purchase on the rod itself to stop it twisting too!

So this is the problem?

To get the clevis off the rod you might have to use a "hot spanner" and heat the clevis up to expand it. The tip of a butane blow torch should get it hot enough.

Hold the rod in some grips close to the lock nut (you can undo that yes), but not on the thread and heat just the clevis, once hot try and undo with some pliers.
If you have three hands, you might want to dribble some cold water on the rod as you heat the clevis, there must be some sort of diaphragm on the actuator body and it's likely to have some rubber in it.

If you get it off and find a replacement clevis, it might be worth doing a guide for the forum. It's a guess, but by the vids on Youtube this is perhaps getting a common problem.

Yep, Famous first Generation 85 TA turbo problem.
Had the same problem with my last 85TA, at ± 57.000 Km, i did a Turbo revision/overhaul with a new original Mitsubishi turbo part.

Revision/Overhaul did cost all-in € 860,-

I suspect the wastegate spindle is furbar myself which has caused the actuator clevis to wear like it has, but the OP is saying it's just the clevis that is worn oval.

If it is just the clevis, seems a lot of money to spend if the clevis isn't in the kit!

Whatever, it makes sense to start cheap.
Replace the clevis first if they can and see how it goes after that.

I would be tempted to drill the clevis out round again and turn a small bush for the spindle to take up the slack.
