Hi

I have just got my new 2021 Panda Cross

Can anyone who has one tell me.. When you engage the ELD, is the green ELD dashboard light meant to come on?

I rotate the dial to engage the ELD, the LED moves ok, it shows connected on the information panel but I do not see anything on the dashboard?

I guess it only comes on if it senses slipping but if anyone actually has one and knows..

thanks
Martin

Correct (and as described in the car handbook :) - although to be fair, the explanation was clearer in older editions)

If you engage the ELD, on the 4x4 the light in the button comes on (or, on the Cross, the 'off road setting' is lit up)

The digital display will say 'ELD Connected' as well.

Only if the ELD actually activates (and actively locks a spinning wheel) will the green 'diff' symbol on the speedo flash in, and only for the brief time the ELD operates.

ESC (yellow light) is not related, but this may flash on the front wheels spin (eg when pulling out from a junction).

Turning on the ELD also forces 4x4 but there is no indication on the dash that this is 'on'

The ELD function is automatically cancelled once you reach 30mph, but the lights don't change. It will automatically re-engage as speed drops back below 30.

I will check but I think the ELD on the dash would be a failure warning. The ELD off road mode is indicated by the light on the rotary knob.

Its an almost pointless thing unless you are going up a steep hill across a a frozen marsh. The system is so good at switching conditions need to be very rough indeed to require it. I did use it to tow a caravan off a very flooded field but suspect even this could have been done in auto mode.

I totally love our 3 Pandas and hope you get as much enjoyment out of your as do I from mine. I must drive up the North face of the Eiger mountain some time and find out just what the limits of this little car are. Nothing I have thrown at is has phased it al all.

Welcome to the Best 4X4 by far club!

No - see photo in post above. The ELD light comes on briefly if the ELD operates. This is most likely to happen if one wheel lifts clear of the ground and so spins freely.

Failure of the ELD system is shown by the ESC light coming on and remaining on. This can also show a failure of the Hill Holder system. (see attached image from the car handbook) The digital display will show a message to confirm which is at fault. (Note: if the EDSC system activates, the light will flash briefly while the system is limiting power)

I defer to your better informed response. I did look today and the ELD comes on when you switch on and then goes off. If I switch to rough terrain mode the only light I get seems to the the CBC off light which may double on mine for the ASC system. In any event I an sure what you say is correct,
