Hi, just bought the mk3 panda, rear washer jet is not working, is it part of the third brake light, and if so does anyone know which way the hose runs through the car. The motor is working and the front washer jets are working too, so I suspect the jet or a pipe or a blockage some where. Not looked at it yet but plan to tomorrow

Thanks

Sounds like you've a Mk4 if it's part of the third brake light, as its separate on the mk3 (2003-2012).

I suspect it's probably a blocked none return valve, that's had a build up of sludge on it. I'm not sure on it's location on the Mk4 unfortunatly, but it's normally around the rear pillar before going into the tailgate from experience with Mk2 & 3 Panda's.

Falconaf The pipes run along inside the headlining I believe. A common problem seems to be the pipe coming off the pump itself (the same pump does front and rear - by spinning in opposite directions). What happens when you operate the washer? Can you hear the pump... does water appear anywhere near the front right wheel? If so, the pipes come off the pump. The other end - there's a panel inside the hatch when open (with Panda written on it) that gives access to the third light and the pipe there. IS there water sitting in the boot seal (at the bottom near the lock)? If so, the pipe has come off the back of the nozzle. Freezing conditions can cause the pipe to be pushed off in one of these places. I think there's a third point - under the wipers at the front, where there's also a join.

This might help: https://fiat.7zap.com/en/gin/33/31917q051870-012/555/14+55514-040+1-0/ - although it is inaccurate in the way it shows the front pipe - there's only one to the font washers, with a link from the driver to passenger side under the 'scuttle panel' (the black plastic panel between the base of the windscreen and the bonnet)

This forum calls the 2012-on model 'Panda iii'... the 'third generation' Panda. But curiously the third generation is the Mk 4 :)

Correct, generation and Mk’s are different reference points, although it says Mk4 for the 2012> on the models page from what I can see.

The Gen 1 covers the Mk1 & Mk2.

I can remember when we just had the Panda section for the Mk1 & Mk2 and the Nuova Panda for the Mk3 :)

'63 plate TA 4x4; mine had disconnected tube under the front of the car. Pump ran and created a puddle via the engine tray. I think it disconnected after a cold spell so probably not enough screen wash in the mix to prevent freezing.

Of course jet could simply be blocked?

Hi Everbody,
Recently had this problem on my 63 Panda just early spring.
I think this is what happens.
When you get a deep freeze outside, the hose that connects to the back of the car freezes. When you try to spray the rear window the back pressure forces off the joint.
The symptom is that your front washers work but the back ones don't.
The actual fix takes less than 10 seconds. To push the hose back on to the connecting spigot. As usual in modern cars there is some dismantling to get there first - takes around 20 mins to disassemble and 20 to assemble.

Don't forget the most important tool - patience!

Anyway here are some before and after pictures.

Is that inside the tailgate?

Sorry,
I meant to add additional information on how to dismantle the vehicle but it sounded confusing.

This is at the front of the vehicle and access is by removing the wipers and lifting up the plastic cover. The pipework is in the well underneath.
To get at the wipers you need to remove the plastic covers. These have a tab on the left, so pull gently on the right where the fixing stud is.
The wiper nut has a black plastic cover on it - gently prise this off.

You then need to remove 3 plastic studs. There are two more of a different type. The two with flat slots in the top have middles that pull up and then they pop out of the hole.

The internal rubber seal needs to come off. Keep this oriented so you can put it back on without getting mixed up.

Removing the plastic shroud is a pain and requires gentle handling.

You will see the pipework in the pictures.

As the tradition of the well known car manuals - reverse the process to re-assemble!

Hi.
You don't need to fully remove the cover over the Plenum chamber or the wipers. It will lift enough to get your hands in and reconnect the pipe. Just remove the plastic securing pins on each side and the middle one and seal, it then lifts enough. 5 minutes tops.
