Hi all,

Hope all is well.

It's been a few years since I've been on here, but I've just bought a 2018 Fiat Panda Cross TwinAir, which arrived this morning. I'm really pleased with my purchase, but noticed the gear gaiter keeps popping out when I change gear. Any ideas how to make it stick, or do I need to buy another?

Cheers.

Thank you for the replies. I've just had another look this morning and it appears all the clips are there but I think the previous owner must have unclipped it a few times for whatever reason and it's just made it easier to come loose.

I may have to order another if it keeps happening, so thank you for the link.

If its all 'still there'
Maybe just dab a light bond on some of the clips

Restore their grip.. but still demountable if you need access

Useful note: if you want to remove the gaiter completely, you may first need to remove the gear knob. That is held in place by a small screw that is under the top part (the bit with the selector pattern on it). That can be removed by flipping it off (again, held by some fairly strong clips) to reveal the screw underneath.

Good grief! How is the cost of that justified??? (n)

I'd be off to the breaker's yards if it needed replacing (y)

If you think that's a lot, look what it costs for my 4x4 version, where the gaiter is real leather (not the plastic 'eco-leather' of the seats, but genuine once on a cow leather). As is the gear knob and steering wheel trim https://www.fiatdalys.lt/en/catalog/part/50292015

Genuine leather gaiters can be had on eBay for c.£10 but the clips are still needed. I am afraid I would used some silicon when fitting the clips and then weight the base of the gaiter down for an hour or so until it was set. My last car used to suffer the same issue but only occasionally so it was only a minor irritation. Fitted a nice soft leather gaiter to my 100HP for about £11 3 years ago.
