Hi folks not long had a 64 cross and I’ve got the flashing odometer issue, I understand it’s the B&M module etc. Thing is since Xmas it’s flat overnight and needed power pack starts. I’ve had a mobile auto electrician who reckons the alternator is fine but “ thinks” it’s got a drain on battery. I’ve booked it in to a local auto electrician for 3 days next week[emoji30]. One of the things I’ve added is a non powered cradle to the dash to hold iPhone, I’m beginning to wonder if this could be my drain ? I understand that later models the mount hold wasn’t powered ? Could a plastic mount be triggering a power connection? Driving me up the wall

Hi

If its non.powered

I cannot see how its draining the battery

You are seeing a symbol indicating the B+M isnt happy..
I would pursue that 1st

What did the autoelectrician test..?

He checked alternator and it was strong ran car for ages with all power stuff on and couldn’t find what it was , he attempted a reboot of B&M as he had come across this a lot on 500s the proxy alignment didn’t work either. He had carpets up on passenger side as there had been a tow bar that I had had removed, checking it was done properly etc. The battery is very new and replaced by previous owner about 2 months ago. Once the car is running it starts quite easily but overnight I can’t even operate central locking ? He concluded that it needs to go into a specialist which I’ve arranged for next week for 3 days, but also said it may be a weak battery ?

Is the blue and me easy to disconnect, I understand it’s under driver seat ?

In my experience it's the Blue and Me unit https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-iii/...-module-2.html )

The unit is under the drivers seat (RHD) and is accessible by removing the trim covers with the seat pushed back. Disconnection at the head unit (radio) does not stop the drain on the battery.

Disconnecting the B&M unit at the unit stops the discharging battery. My Alfa independent technician (who I trust more than our local FIAT dealer) says that the CANBus system cannot be reset to stop the odometer flashing (so called proxy realignment) without the B&M unit present since the car is configured to expect it when built, I have no reason to disbelieve this but will listen to other's experience.

I have found a site on Italian eBay where there is a company that remanufactures failed B&M units for 200euro which is a bit more reasonable but you will still have to pay to plug in the diagnostics for the realignment (unless you have the kit).

Thanks for the help found it and disconnected hopefully this sorts my battery drain , so am I right in thinking the only way to stop flashing Milo is to replace B&M unit ?

That's my current understanding; if the car was built with one then it expects to find one! I had thought that you might be able to change the vehicle configuration at the root but I'm advised that this is not the case, this is supported by other's experience in the Qubo thread that is discussing this too (I think I saw you had posted there?). I was encouraged by someone on there saying they managed to align a secondhand module with a different part number which opens up the market a little?

Right now I can live with the flashing ODO until it comes to sell the car I guess. I may explore the route of a reconditioned unit.

Let us know if you find a solution, thanks.

Yes will do and if there is a reconditioned route I would be interested in that too

I had found this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RIPARAZI...3535-51944597-51953695-51968826-/233585455447

This is not a recommendation; I have not tried them! I have contacted ACTronics here in the UK with whom I have had some (good) experience with Merc parts but they do not work on Blue & Me units.

I did open up my faulty unit but it looks like a very complex box of (digital) tricks with no obvious burnt out components!
