Those red calipers will definitely make it go faster. I reckon. (y)

All it needs now are some Go Faster stripes. Surprised they didn't tack on a 100HP-style spoiler on the back, but perhaps they feared the poor beast would die of shame.

Terrible engine choice for the Panda (500), with only that poor 3 cilinder 70 hp Hybrid engine for the Panda Sport.

Hyundai, Kia, VW, all have a 3 cylinder turbo engine available in there A-Segment cars, FIAT is really missing out in that segment.
They should at least offered the 105 hp TwinAir in it, or the new ± 100-120 hp 3T Firefly engine, even a 4 cylinder 1332cc Firefly Hybrid 105 hp engine would be better for it.
Now the Panda Sport is just a big joke :( there is nothing sporty about it.

You mean like every other sport model fiat do?

They don't have any sport moddels with bigger engine's
No different to a 500 sport with a 1.2 69 hp engine

Hi.
Don't forget not everyone wants to be a boy racer, that's for the track not the public highway.
When you've come from a 425cc Citroën 2CV you learn a new set of rules that gives you a better understanding on how to make good progress on a low powered vehicle. 70 bhp is a lot more than 12 bhp, the lessons learned in that car means I can make quick progress without taking unnecessary risks.
To me good fuel consumption and a smooth an quiet ride is more relaxing than overtaking on the limit or beating the car next to me off the lights and nearly hitting a dozy pedestrian.
If I'd the money to afford a hybrid Panda I'd jump at it.

Oh but the power rush when you go up to a 602cc 2CV:cool:

Did have on the 100HP with longer 4-pot engine - marginal on TA with short twin-cylinder - unless there's a version with 90 HP or more i'm not too interested.

There is its called the Cross. My Waze was also sold as 90HP. Shame its actually 85HP I wouldn't believe their horsepower claims again anyway! Even the supposed 85hp is actually only 83.

I agree however that if they could do a retake of the Panda 100 with a bit more poke and preferably softer springs... I would be swayed to buy one. It will be interesting to see if the 2022 new Panda is any good. Here is hoping they tweak the styling. I shall not be buying something with all that plastic cladding unless its clear it can be kept looking reasonable. Most similar trims look pretty disgusting after a few weeks of winter weather.

I like it. But not with only 70Hp.

gr J

I cant work out quite why the performance is a lot less than the existing 1.2 with 69HP. The 1.2 is no fire ball, but its quite adequate these days with all teh restrictions and cameras.

HA I hear it say. I bet I can run faster than you can!

I know that story, started my Panda story with a Panda 750 FIRE with Ecobox.
Ended my Panda story with a 113 hp, Panda 85 Lounge, in a 22 year time period.

Absolutely.
A top speed of 70 was amazing in comparison to 50 downhill and 10 on a 10% hill.
The 602cc 2CV had amazing cornering grip, on the AZL 425cc car it really wasn't fast enough to find out how grippy they were.
Wonderful cars and great fun. I had a 1960 LHD 425 cc AZL, 1981 Dyane 6 and a 2CV special for a couple of months before moving back to Skoda's.

Hi Trevor
I've had 3' 602cc CVs. I bought the first, new in about 1986 when I started up a new business on my own. I wanted a new car but it had to be cheap.I did about 88000 miles in a little over 2 years all of it flat out. It never let me down but eventually expired with terminal rot.
Next I bought for fun a "Plums and Custard" Dolly as a fun car. It too was great, and stupidly I sold it to a guy who kept offering me more and more till I gave in.
I then got a bit of a wreck to do up but it proved to be a money pit and still not too good so soldthat, and bought a new 4x4 Panda, also a cracking little car which will see me out.
I would still love another 2CV but with a Camper Van, 2 cars, 5 bikes, 9 motorbikes, and a scooter, I think that would be a bit over the top!.
The second Deuch was E 2CV E and the third C 2CV C. Should have kept the plates perhaps.
Lots of good memories of all but the best was with the first car, romping up a snow covered hill, passing all the Jags, BMs etc slithering to a halt
Happy New Year to all
Cheers Colin:):)

Oh yes, those 2CV memories! Mine was a W reg 602cc Club. Answered to the name of Pierre, and had a handlebar moustache on its cute yellow nose, and a logo that featured a jaunty monocle (the first owner was an art student - nuff said!). One of my fondest memories of it is heading west on the M4, on that loooong downhill stretch as you approach the junction with the M5, in a tearing hurry to get back to the Land of my Fathers, foot jammed down on the loud pedal. The wee yellow beastie just went faster, and faster, and faster... I still remember the astonished looks on the faces of the drivers of the much faster, more expensive machines as I sailed by. The banshee wail of a 2CV revving way off the scale is something else! And in the snow, it was unbeatable. Happy days!

Sadly, the barn collapsed on top of it in a storm in 1990, and it went to that great scrapyard in the sky. I'd have another one tomorrow, if they weren't so damned expensive now!

Hi.
Yes the 602cc engine could be seriously over-revved with no ill effects. In fact at 72mph I believe it was spinning at 6700rpm if memory serves me correctly.

That sounds about right. And on a downhill stretch, with the wind behind it, it just carried on, and on, and on. I reckon I had mine well into the 80s on more than one occasion. It was always smooth as a sewing machine - unburstable. Great memories!

Ha! snap! I ran the local 2CV Club for a while (called... The Hertfordshire Hilltoppers!). And drove west on the M4 to visit friends and family in the Bath and Bristol area. There was a lovely piece in ‘Car’ magazine many moons ago by the late, great LJK Setright who described the 2CV engine as one of the finest engines ever made.
