I had/have a number plate light warning and subsequently found a blown bulb which I have replaced.
However, I am unable to cancel the orange triangle warning!
In the menu I do not have the lighting segment.
Any ideas please.
Many thanks

Hello Easy4Haze and welcome to the FIAT forums.

I tried fitting LEDs into my number plate lights and got the warning. I tried several different types but it still did it. When I put the original bulbs back in, the warning triangle cancelled itself and hasn't been back on since,

Try cycling the ignition a few times - ie starting the car several times and cycling the lights on and off.
Other than that, Im sure someone will be along soon that actually knows what to do :D

The question is did you fit LEDs in the number plate or standard filament bulbs?
The only thing I can think of if you fitted filament bulbs, were they of the correct wattage? They should be 5 Watts per bulb.
I've got LEDs in my number plate but you need to fit a load resistor of 20 ohms rated at 7 Watts at least. I used a gold alloy resistor from RS Bonded to the inner section of the tailgate and wired in parallel with one of the bulbs (they both are wired in parallel anyway) to clear the canbus warnings for number plate bulb warning, don't use canbus LEDs though as this will load the system excessively.

Hi :)

The system monitors power consumed in the lighting circuit ( not headlights)

Any bulbs consuming less power than the standard set.up can trigger the warnings

188 puntos had a strange wattage bulb.. if they blew the size stocked by Halfords would flag an error..

What was the W rating of the bulb you removed?

To add to Charlie's post.
Each festoon bulb in the number plate lamp is 5 Watts each. If one blows the system will detect it is blown. The bulbs are in parallel so the total load is 10 Watts. If you fit 2 or 4 watt bulbs (they are available) in both places it will put the triangle on and tell you there is a bulb blown. So yes double check what bulbs are fitted. The voltage and wattage are stamped or etched onto one of the metal end connections on the bulb.

Thanks Murphy - the resistor you have - is it One Of these?

Error light now corrected by using two NEW bulbs, not stuff I have had laying around on the shelf.
Still dont know why I do not have the lighting sub menu from the main?
Anyway, many thanks to you all.

Ive just had to open up the Pandas number plate lamp agsin

The LH has been flagging as 'bulb gone' all week

I prised thr holder open with a spate 'plug in bulb' from my Punto kit

Only to discover it was a Festoon type (n)

Luckily ...with a twist in its mounts it lit again.. :)

I will add a brief GUIDE
.. as there isnt one from 2003/2023

Found the same issue on my Bravo. The second bulb was still working but burnt black. I now change bulbs in pairs or fit a used bulb so the balance is maintained. It seems to work.
