Hello,

I stupidly reversed into a wooden planter at home last week. I was probably only travelling at about 3mph but I managed to damage the rear bumper & the "what I call rear skid plate" - the black & silver plastic moulding.

The moulding is totally kaput - all the lugs sheared off & I spent 2 hours at the weekend carefully removing them from the holes at the rear of the car.

Does anyone know what this part is called because I've checked loads of websites & can't find one? It doesn't have to be brand new, just needs to have all the plastic lugs intact.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, although it doesn't look all that bad without actually!

It seems to be called "protection" https://www.fiatdalys.lt/en/catalog/parts/707/27/10/2/33/0/0/CC0.9/CMBBZ/GDX/rear-bumper

I fitted a tow bar to my 4x4 TA and on removing bumper found that someone had been there before me! As with yours it appears that all the lugs on the silver plastic plate had been broken and subsequently melted or welded over (maybe with a soldering iron or something more substantial) to hold the part in place. It's all thermoplastic so I could see this working for you or maybe find a local bumper repair specialist? When I did the tow bar I used some body caulk to seal around holes in the chassis rails (not sure if that's proper name) which would act as an adhesive to hold it in place.
