Technical Wing Mirror replace repair

I ave a similar issue and have been reading through the repair thread. Unfortunately I am about a “handy” as someone with no hands.

Has anyone got a clue what I should be looking for for a passenger side wing mirror (that will fit the colour coded trim) for a 2016 Panda 1.2 Lounge? It is the cabled version not electric.

Apologies for jumping on your post, but I didn’t want to start a new thread.

As noted above trim panel can be swapped and would not come with a new part (mirror). I got a new one from the shop promoted on this site; I also repaired my damaged one which sits in the garage but is electric... But otherwise available

Something like this?

I just searched for Panda passenger wing mirror manual, and then looked for ones that are 2012- and have removable covers (i.e. that are not black). Many parts suppliers (eg Eurocarparts) will check the correct part-number against your registration. Most of the replacement mirrors that are available are pattern parts (i.e. not genuine Fiat parts) but if you want an OEM mirror it will cost a lot more, unless you can find a secondhand one.

(I'm assuming that you can reuse your existing coloured mirror cover?).

As for fitting a replacement, it's an easy DIY job if you follow the instructions on here. Just two pieces of trim to remove, and 4 bolts to undo. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. If you don't feel up to tackling it yourself, a local garage will probably do it for you for £30-40, if you're supplying the parts.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for this. Got one delivered yesterday and will give it a go when it gets light.

Thanks for the welcome too. I have lurked here for info quite a bit so figured it was finally time to sign up.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but my question is closely related - are you saying that the non-colour-coded aftermarket mirrors do not have a removable back?
I need to replace my mothers wing mirror but trying to keep cost down. Her colour-coded cover is reusable and the non-colour-coded mirrors are cheap to come by, but it's not clear if they still use a removeable back. On the photos it looks like they have a seam but that might be just aesthetic; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313569000505

Safest bet is to ask the vendor? Even if the cover does come off, depending how well the clone is a exact copy of the OEM version the cover may not be interchangeable? ( If i were ask to create tooling for a cheaper part, may well modify the internals to suit, make simpler and hence cheaper tool, quicker moulding cycle. Also if a registered design, then it only the "must fit" interfaces that can be the same, mirror assembly to door, glass to holder, not necessarily the cover on the housing?)

Yes, I’ve got a non oem job and, whilst the cover is removable, it is, at best, an ‘approximation’ of the original

Well you could get creative and buy two non-OEM mirrors (driver's and passengers) and then you would have a matching pair for less than a new OEM one. Then the "good" one removed could be sold on recovering some cash???
