Looking for advice on what type of air con recharge kit to use to top up fiat panda easy 2013 and correct gas type any advice would be greatly appreciated

It should have a sticker under the bonnet stating the correct gas that being said a 2013 is 99% r134a
I think it's 2015/16 onwards that use 1234yf

Yes it should be the much cheaper gas..joys of older cars

What system pressure do you currently have.. ?

Worth checking that before spending money

Personally I'd just take it to a specialist.
Avoid Halfords like the others have said.
Some systems have a little oil in them and the specialist will know. It's an offence to let gas knowingly escape so leave checking pressure to the experts. Most places with be circa £40-55 to recharge the system.

Plug into OBD port

If the pressure is fine.. why are you regassing

If there is little pressure..get the vacuum test done

ATS didnt charge me when they pumped out the old fill..then discovered a leak on my old estate

They had a Groupon deal recently too £39

If there are no leaks and the system still has some gas in it. Then it can be cheaper to get it done properly rather than using a recharge kit. The only reason to use a recharge kit is convenience you don’t have to book it in, leave it an hour or so and get back to collect it again.

My 2008 grande seemed low..so I compared it with my 2012

Ive not done the panda yet.. but why would it be unreadable.. its 95% the same kit.

High pressure can be read via the obd port yes

I’m with Murphy on this, take it to a specialist, they will check the whole system for leaks and make good any problems that you would not be able to fix. Is your system not working properly? As said, why do you think you need a re gas?

I know that on some vehicles with a basic system it's not readable, they have a Trinary Switch to disable the compressor when the pressure drops below a pre determined level but no info via the body computer.

Modern cars have a pressure sensor that knows the exact pressure value, this is very different to cars some 25+ years ago that used a dump on off switch that triggered at a preset pressure.

So yeah all newer model Fiat’s you can read the pressure off the OBD port if you have the right kit.

That'll be with MES no doubt. I've the paid version of Alfa OBD but the ELM327 dongle doesn't talk to all systems as far as I can see so I'm unsure if I can test mine.

my system is blowing only hot air

When you turn the heat control right to blue it should be cool air even with the air con light off. If its hot when right to blue its a flap issue Not the air con.

As I understand it my climate controls are manual and I don’t have motorised flaps or am I wrong

Correct it's manual.
Why not send a photo to properly clarify what system you have.

Its a FLAP that diverts air..

The control of it isnt electrical..
Its a Bowden cable
