Eh up all,

I’m looking to replace the front and rear discs and pads on the Cross.

I know what to expect from when I’ve stripped them before so it’s no problem.(y)

BUT can anyone point me in the direction of a manufacturer who makes coated discs.

I’m sick of them rusting up on the hubs and rims, my other car runs coated discs and they last and look far better.

Can I find any for the Panda ,,,,:bang:

Cheers in advance for any pointers.

Eh up , tried all the usual suspect on the net - cannot believe no one makes a coated disc for these cars:eek:

Would have thought brembo, mintex and other premium brands would but appears not unless I’m missing something

Cheers for the reply

Eh up again,

Just noticed your in “gods own county” too ( waits for abuse from everyone else(y))

Thanks - fronts vented 257 rear solid 240, 0.9 twinair Cross :slayer:

Will have a look up again.

Just to be a true Yorkshire Man I want to pay next to nowt for them too .....:D

Want to get these sorted asap, looking forward to stripping the rears again

"A main feature of Pagid brake discs, over and above other brands, is the entire range is GEOMET coated. This enables exemplary corrosion protection. The chrome-free protectant reduces the chances of rust build-up, a common brake disc affliction, and therefore improving stopping performance over time. The coating also provides a smarter appearance for longer, ideal for customers with alloy wheels."

Eh up all,

Thanks for the replies

Use pagid on the other cars - will check out if they are defiantly coated.

Cheers all

Do they wear, more or less or about the same as un-coated discs?

Used them on my BmW320d over 2 years ago, no rust on lip or hub, the coating on mines good and looks so much better than rust (y)

Will be looking to check if local supplier can get these and what cost.

Cheers all.

….. my other car runs coated discs and they last and look far better.
..... the coating is only probably half a mill thick and will totally be worn off the braking surface within 50 miles or so, but should protect the rest of the disc rusting too much for a few years
Coated discs certainly sound good in principle, even if experiences seem to differ. Can anybody else comment on how long their coatings have lasted?

My driving is mostly at fairly low speed on rural roads, not braking hard enough to keep the discs clean. Rust tends to build up and rub away at the inner and outer edges of the pads, so that the effective braking surface gets narrower over time. This is particularly noticeable with rear discs on a light vehicle such as the Panda 4x4, which are somewhat underworked in most parts of UK (though they may be well suited to descending long hills in the Alps).
