At the time when VW were first being criticised (and later fined heavily) for the use of 'cheat devices' to fool their diesel cars when being emissions tested, I commented that surely VW would not be alone. Many of the parts that control most cars these days come from the same single manufacturer - for example Bosch. Indeed, and slightly less but still prevalent the car owners on here and other forums de catting illegally their cars and other things.

I remember getting an email from Ford at the time saying "You don't need to worry about the emissions scandal with a new Ford" ~ or something similar along those lines. It was very blue and had a picture of a Focus on it (as you might imagine)..


I thought that was interesting that very quickly they spoke up to say that they aren't involved in the scandal whatsoever and were happy to shout about it!!!


Sure enough, I haven't seen Ford being dragged into these discussions.

Everyone is being dragged into it but it doesn’t mean they are guilty, it just means they are being investigated. Fiat on the other hand are known to have fiddled the books, specifically on other FCA group brands but in recent years before the scandals broke fiat cars had seriously reduced the amount of Diesel engines they used, check out how many Fiat diesels there are made after 2012? Virtually no puntos 500s or pandas after 2012/13 with Diesel engines compared to before this time. I suspect fiat realised that keeping the emissions down was going to be hard so decided to stop the manufacturing of tiny diesel cars but they still produced the 500x with a diesel which is based on the same tech as the Jeep and it’s jeep who have been in trouble so there still may be some problems with fiat cars.
