Dear All,
I need to replace the bearings on my front strut top mounts. I have prepared everything so all should come off ok but now want to order the parts. I am not sure what I should go for. There doesn't seem to be an option to buy just the bearing but you can buy the top mount without the bearing! A bit odd to me as the actual mounting looks very sound, just that the steering creaks and is stiff and a noise comes from the top mount.
There are two options,
1- top mount with anti friction bearing
2- top mount with ball bearing
The latter is substantially more expensive. Any suggestions as to which I should go for please?
Thank you very much
Richard Black.

HI
Are you taking about bearings or bushes?
As I though they where where bushes... Fiat garages are starting to open so if your really not sure pop down and have a chat with them in the parts department as for a quote and get a parts diagram.

Hello,
I am referring to the front strut top which is the mounting to the inner wing. It is available, as I mention, either without the bearing, with a ball bearing or what is termed as "anti friction bearing" which I take to be some sort of plastic bush. It is the bearing that is the problem and very jumpy and creaky.
Just trying to decide which is the best and definitely don't want to buy it from Fiat as they are so expensive for most things.
I suspect I will just go for the slightly more expensive ball bearing option and do one side at a time.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Richard.
