Hi.
To clarify. The resistors are only for a test to see if the head unit "sees" the rear speakers. Do NOT leave them in circuit once you fit the rear speakers as this could blow the Audio output chip.

The rear speakers are smaller than the fronts, one reason I will fit good quality aftermarket speakers whenever I get round to doing the modification.

From the driver’s seat the sound is very good with the fronts only.

100% Agree the sound quality is rather good from the drivers seat. Definitely better than my fiance's 2013 500 Pop and the facelift Alfa 147 I owned before.

I'd like to add the rear speakers mainly because I can and it can be made to look 100% OEM. I've added the OEM boot light to my car which came without it despite being a 2017 Lounge spec unit.

By trawling Autotrader I've realised that early 2017 cars came with the UConnect system and rear speakers (or at least the door cards with the speaker cut out) while late 2017 cars did not. Seems it was a running change during 2017. I've managed to track down the VIN of a 2017 car that's as close to mine as possible while still having the rear speakers AND Uconnect (both ZFA312000039x)

I'm considering aftermarket speakers rather than OE. The only problem is I'll have to import adapters at 20 Pound plus shipping. That's the price again of a very decent set of speakers (Alpine, JBL etc) so it really boils down to what the dealer will charge for the OE ones.

Good answer!
For a brief time (before it was written off by being driven into) I had a 2017 4x4 with uConnect and rear speakers - and a boot light. It though didn’t have a mirror on the driver’s sun visor (which my 2013 one did)... seems the spec changes annually for no real reason!

So I've been along to my local dealer to order the parts. According to them they are unable to get anything out of Italy at this point in time but they where able to give me pricing.

The pricing actually isn't too bad. The doorcards were just under 70 Pound each. The speakers where 15 Pound for the set and the wiring harnesses where 14.9 Pound each. Keep in mind that's ZAR pricing converted to GBP at 23.189 to 1  which is the worst it's been in my lifetime.

They still need to request pricing for the moisture shields and speaker rivets.

Indeed I did and there's definitely no speaker connector on my car's existing rear door harnesses. Part of the pricing exercise I did today included two rear door harnesses(there's different part numbers for cars with rear speakers) I literally cannot understand why fiat didnt just include the rear speakers if they only cost 15 pound (at retail pricing!) For the set!

Save 10 on one car times 100.000 is probably paying for someones bonus or dividend.

Almost certainly. Same applies to the ‘missing’ mirror in drivers sun visors, and using the cheaper, single bulb interior light on all models (previously the Lounge, 4x4 and Cross had unit with two reading lights). Shaving pennies here and there (and simplifying spec across all trim levels) will save a lot of time and money.

I hear you both and I do agree. What I find a bit bizarre is my car as an example is a South African spec Lounge model. It's comes standard with climate control, parking sensors, alloy wheels and a heated windscreen which is TOTALLY superfluous in our climate. It didn't come standard with a boot light, rear speakers or electric mirrors. I'd happily swap a heated windscreen for electric mirrors.

My theory is they've equipped the car to be as appealing as possible on the showroom floor and on a test drive. A potential buyer will almost immediately notice alloy wheels, climate control and parking sensors. Most people won't notice missing speakers and a boot light until they've spent some time with the car.

This is how it looks with factory speakers. ;)

Alloy's and the heated window seem Very strange for Africa with the climate and road's

As promised, I’ve had a look. The wires are so tight behind the radio I could only edge it out a short way (didn’t want to pull more and end up with dash rattles). Unclipping the aerial lead and mini USB next to it let me get these shots of the other plugs. In the photo the other plugs are not fully seated as I did try to unplug them too but without success. They’re back in now :)
Yes, there *are* wires in place for front and rear speakers, and the diagram on top of the radio confirms this.

Interesting to see is, that it's no longer a "Blaupunkt" product.

You are a champion sir!(y):worship: As soon as my local dealer opens up again I'll be in to order the door looms, speakers and door cards.

I wonder why it didn't pop on when i hooked up the speakers although to be fair the connections where a bit 'jerry rigged'. I just shoved the wires into the connector pin holes. I used these cheap Pioneer (4 ohm) speakers so I wonder if they didn't provide quite enough resistance. I'll get hold of some 4.7 ohm resistors to get the fader to come on when I start.

The system have to detect 4 speakers connected, to bring fader on.

There are so mani different radio's available for the 2017> Panda.
With and without DAB, then the version with the Dashboard Dock on top, and then this version with a front mounted USB socked and no dashboard dock on top of the dash.

We only got the plain old CD player and the Uconnect with the dashtop dock but no DAB or USB port on the HU front face in South Africa.

Unfortunately my project has ground to a halt right now. My local dealer can't get any parts out of Italy. Apparently they'll be able to start from 1 June but I think it'll take most of June for them to arrive in country.
