Technical Cross nearside fog lamp bulb fitting.

Technical Cross nearside fog lamp bulb fitting.

Reading all the replies in this thread it still isn't clear if anyone has actually been able to change one or both of the Cross fog light bulbs!

One of the tasks on my list for our new Cross was to upgrade the dipped/high beam H4's and fog H11's to Osram Night Breaker (many kms travelled around NZ at night taught me how marginal OE bulbs are!). The main/dipped change took all of 15 minutes, no skinned knuckles or any drama - couldn't believe it after 20 years of contortionism on various Fiats & Alfas.

On our previous '06 Cross the fogs were easy to change, you just need to unscrew the plastic housings, but the new one appears to be more of a challenge. I suspect the upper plastic moulding which houses the fogs is clipped to the lower section then retained by 2 plastic push-to-lock retainers which no doubt the dealer would punch out & replace after bulb replacement.

Anybody out there with practical experience?

Thanks, Richard

Indeed it is via the arch covers.
If you are short and have short arms it's virtually impossible.
I'm 5ft 10 and it's full stretch to get to the bulb, quite difficult and will be harder if you are on the heavy side.

OK, I did read both those posts and read the OM but must admit I didn't think it would be possible via the wheelarch access point - however it is clear that at least one of you has managed the contortion act so now it's my turn!

I still maintain it would be easier to just remove the upper black "grille bar" which incorporates the fogs.............. just an idea born of my long-ago production engineering training, perfected on HA/HB Vivas, EH Holdens & the occasional Chevy Bel Air

As always, thanks to you regular posters!

Ciao ciao,

I did investigate removing the upper black part of the bumper, I removed the plastic retaining pegs and any other fasteners I could see but it's held lower down which as far as I can see is a bumper off job.

Thanks Trevor, you've saved me a fruitless exercise! Guess I'll program a nice cool morning to follow the recommended/as per the manual procedure.

Took the Yellow Cross for a run up to our summer villa (20 minute drive, sea level to 600m, nice twisty secondary road) with 3 adults on board and have to say that I'm pretty impressed with the TA. Having just come out of a Lancia Musa 2nd series with the 95hp MJ and previously owned an '06 Cross MJ, I can say the TA is exceeding my expectations, in terms of both drivability & power delivery. It reminds me a lot of the 1.4 turbo in the Mito, not the absolute power, of course, but how it is available.

Ciao ciao,

Sorry for the revival of an old thread but :-

My new 23 cross does not have the access panel shown in the manual and also as shown on 1st page of this thread.
Is there a guide to show how to get to the fog bulbs as even my dealer - franchised - didn't know?
