I have a 63 plate Panda 4x4, 1.3 multijet and I am changing the rear shock absorbers as one is leaking. Garage told me that they are main dealer only, so rang the parts department of my local dealer to be told that they are over £155 each plus VAT. Hence I went online and found them on buycarparts.co.uk, bilstein B4 at £40 each inc VAT. Good quality product, so I ordered them, but shipped from Germany. Have started to change them today and when I got the original off the car I have found the Bilstein ones are quite a bit shorter, tried to attach a photo but forum won't let me.

I will be going back to the Germans, but does anyone know what length these are meant to be?

SiloSean, the 4x4 uses longer shocks owing to the increased ride height.
You can get them from Shop4Parts here in the U.K., £40 each. see here: https://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=store&op=Product&ProdID=11076 -
Edit: that link was for the TwinAir engined 4x4... but the part is the same for the MJ too. Shop4Parts sells only OEM parts at much reduced prices (discounted further to FiatForum donated members)

Thanks for the reply, had a quick look on ebay and can't find these. I did try a few websites using the reg to select the part, but they keep coming up with the Bilstein part that I know is wrong. I don't suppose that you still have the part number?

Thanks for the info. Never come across that make before, have you used them and are they any good?

@SiloSean I used these (or their predecessor) on my older 4x4 Panda - seemed very good, and the mounts were more robust that the Fiat originals. The Fiat original part number is shown in the Shop4Parts listing (at the bottom, under 'cross ref' and is 51 939 980 ). Topline are made in Italy, I believe.

I personally would never buy any car parts from eBay (at least, not 'safety critical' bits)... no way of being sure of their origin. Shop4Parts is well-regarded UK-based specialist for Fiat and Alfa parts supplying only original Fiat, or OEM-quality, parts and I trust them rather more. Free next-day delivery (on orders over £25) too

Again, thanks for the reply, I have just ordered them. Will give them a try, given what Fiat want for a pair I can change them 4 times with these and still save £40!

Can't get over the fact that Bilstein don't have the correct information, I put in the fiat part number 51939980 and whilst it comes up with a part, it tells me that it doesn't fit my car.
