Hi Folks,

Just been out to the Panda (Cross Diesel '65 Plate) and the central locking on the rear drivers door seems to have suddenly given up the ghost.
The door will not open at all from the outside and although the interior handle is in the recessed locked position (hope that makes sense) it will still open the door.
As soon as the interior handle is released it just springs back into the recessed locked position. I've tried locking/unlocking several times in various ways but the interior handle will just not release itself from the locked position.
I'm the sort of chap that likes things to be right so although it's not affecting the performance of the car I really would like to sort it.
I have done a search and although one member had the same issue a while back no solution seemed to have been found.:(
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.(y)

Thanks.

Mechanism issue probably

1 owner had childlocks set.. so couldnt open from inside :(

Not sure how they overcame it..

But prompted me to check ours open both inside and out.. :)

Had the same issue (Drivers side rear, child locks on). As the car (2015 4x4 Panda) was under warranty, it was booked in for rectification at a Fiat dealership.
Brace yourselves - work was carried out which resulted in:

Butchered door panel, scrapes to interior paint work and small dents to the exterior of the door panel. Locking issue was rectified.

Car got returned by unhappy me.

Dealer suggested 'spot repair' but I was having none of it. Three days at body shop to rectify - resprayed panel (Tuscany Green Metallic), new lock, interior door panel and a few other bits and pieces.

Not a good experience. Reluctant to go there again. Later on the window in that door started dropping from time to time.

Cheers

Well folks the car after a quick diagnosis was repaired at McLennan Garage near Edinburgh.
It turned out to be a broken lock mechanism so a new one was ordered, delivered, and fitted next day. (y)
All good and fully working now :).
Lock was £80 and labour about £75 so not to bad all in.
Many thanks to McLennan Garage for their quick, professional service.

This appears a common failure :(

There is a 2nd thread about this.. apparently they are removing door card (door still locked in closed position)

Butchering the casing of the lock mechanism.. so the door can be opened

Then access is good to remove the locks retaining screws.. a new lock can then be installed.

ADVICE: do not deploy 'Childlocks'
