Much as I love my Panda, I went ahead and traded it in today against that ugly bug, the Suzuki Ignis. No logic to my decision – I just saw it and liked it. Financially, a very poor move on my part.

In addition, I will now have to buy another set of winter tyres!

I just hope that I get on with the Suzuki.

(Anyone need some winter wheels?)

Crikey..!!

Where are these wheels to be collected?

I get what you have done. I have changed cars many times and got into a lot of negative equity. I find it hard but just try to be happy with your new car. I know this is easier said than done. I have a panda lounge now and have had lots of lovely Abarths and other cars, but needs must for finance reasons. Becuse I have changed cars so much I’m paying as much for the panda as I was for a Conpetitzione Abarth! A hard lesson to learn but one that I must do.

Hope you enjoy as it’s a cool looking car, might see it around Glasgow too sometime! Haha

Stick with it... I had a new Ignis for the day when the Panda was in for service recently.
Loved it! If I trade in the Panda, it will be for one of them (they do a 4wd version I believe)

Now just finding out stuff like hardly any winter tyres available in the Ignis odd size - 175/60 R16. I'm hoping to get Falkens again.

Interesting. Do please tell us how you get on with it. Is yours the All grip?

At least your 90HP engine will have 90HP unlike the Panda Waze that does not.

I tried the Ignis and couldn't get on with the Tech bits, Couldnt' be a***** to learn it and also felt the Panda goes better. No doubt though you will use less fuel and probably can trust what the maker says more than I can with mine. I came within a micron or returning my waze and getting an Ignis last week but have decided to stick with what I know as we have 3 Pandas in the fleet. Having done the rust proofing and fitted a heap of accessories I don't want to repeat that again for a while. I am very Interested however so please do report back.

Unfortunately in Glasgow (I could only deliver within, say, a 100 mile radius from there). Haven't a clue how I'd post them.

Probably advertise them in due course.

For Info, I used Parcel Farce to send two tyres to Edinburgh 6 months back ' cost about £20. So not as bad as might be expected. Service was decent enough to recommend.

Wow! Didn't you only buy the Panda, like, yesterday??!!

Still, your money, your choice. After all, you can't take it with you!

I'm almost in the same boat as you: I have a Panda Cross 90 on order for delivery March 2020. Which will of course be a 85. I could cancel it, but I won't. I doubt it will make any difference. They both have the same 145Nm from 1900rpm which is what matters. It's only the very top end of the rev range that there'll be a discernible difference, and 5 BHP ain't much.

I'm going to wait and see if the Dealer brings it to my attention.

The advantage the Ignis has is in weight. It's well over 100Kg lighter than the Panda.

One thing that I did notice during my test drive was that the Ignis (with a much higher ground clearance) didn't actually feel as good as the commanding driving position of my Lounge. Possibly an optical illusion but I actually prefer the Panda in that respect. Engine-wise, I like both of the 4 pot non-turbo engines but the Suzuki is naturally quicker through the gears and does have some character. Mind you, I'm also a big fan of the Panda's 1.2 and find it powerful enough for most of my needs. Occasionally I do get caught out joining my local dualled A road (steep uphill) from a standing start and I suspect that the Ignis will be better in that respect.

I'll also miss the funky steering wheel on the Panda (plus the gear stick placement) although the Ignis has a couple of nice quirky things going on internally. The infotainment screen is average but does have Android Auto, but the Panda's smartphone holder does the job almost as well.

Actually, the two cars are very similar in many ways and I might not have changed had I originally gone for a Trekking or 2WD Cross, but neither were available locally at the time.

I'd better list some plus points for the Ignis before I start getting depressed!

Well, it's my preferred colour orange, larger boot, decent ground clearance, reversing camera and a bit nippier. So I guess that you could call it a marginal upgrade from my Lounge, but only time will tell if it's as much fun to drive.

I know that it's impossible to justify the financial hit but it was an itch that I just had to scratch. Silly really but I think that it will turn out ok.

And, I'll definitely post a better review once I've done a few miles in the new car, warts and all (y)

They were £400 on ebay but I got £60 off during the last ebay 15% promotion so, say £230? They've only done about 700 miles and they really are good.

A 40 minute motorway drive back from the dealers is hardly sufficient to properly compare the Ignis with the Panda although I do have some initial thoughts.

The Ignis is quieter, roomier and quicker but the driving experience is somewhat detached and there are probably fewer grins per mile. Also, I actually prefer the Panda driving position and it probably gives more feedback through the steering wheel (which is also nicer). Having said that, I didn't have the centre armrest fitted and that will improve things.

But the Ignis is still a very nice car and a good place to be. The superior infotainment screen is worth having (even although it's hardly a class beater) although it had been set up for an I Phone, not Android which I use. That can be fixed.

I wanted more ground clearance, which I've got, plus the extra bonus of more power so I'm pretty happy. There was never going to be a clear winner for me as they are so similar in many ways and I like them both. Pound for pound though, the Panda is maybe better value - hard to say.

As for looks, I'd go for the Ignis, but, of course, I do like orange cars!
