The local main dealer has quoted £396 for a main service for my 1.2 Panda which is now 4 years old.The service includes new plugs, brake fluid change and an air con top up.
I am thinking of using a non franchise mechanic but should I continue with Fiat?
Thanks for any advice.

Find a good local garage for doing servicing after the warranty has run out

:yeahthat:

Close on £400 is an extortionate price for a basic service on such a simple car. Most independents will charge less than half that, and some will throw in an MOT for free.

You could even do it yourself (it's not that hard, and you'll save a shedload over the life of the car.)

Either way, I'd suggest you replace the spark plugs with an iridium equivalent (about £30 a set); that way, you won't need to change them again for at least another 60,000 miles.

Agreed. That's a rip off. You're out of warranty, so there's no need to pay inflated main dealer prices anymore.

Let us know where you're based, we'll try and find you a decent independent. :)

Thank you-I live in Christchurch-there is a fiat specialist in Ringwood that I will use.

Never use the stealer, sorry I mean dealer. Find a good independent.

Took my 4X4 TA in for its 3rd year service yesterday. 22750 miles. Changed every filter, brake fluid and plugs.
£368.

Got mine done independant garage, all fluids, all filters, plugs, cambelt kit inc w/p and windscreen wipers for £450, seemed reasonable when priced agsinst a dealer

There is one small advantage to using the main dealer: having them service the car gives you 12 months full breakdown cover across the UK and Europe, including at your home address. That’s worth at least £80? https://www.fiat.co.uk/content/dam/moc/common/en/roadside-assistance/112360-FCA-Complimentary-Roadside-Assistance-Multibrand-2017-UK.pdf
